What about un-organized weekend challenges?

Personally I wouldn't participate, there's no point to community run events, no official tracking, no official reward, no benefits to the manifest to show. Meh...

I ment from bioware

Hey guys - so yes the servers and challenge systems will keep running as long as we can keep them up but there will no longer be any organized weekend events.

I somewhat wonder what you gain by discontinuing support for the game, and making the game enter its final stage, merely by doing everything to make it enter its final stage...

There are many new players on, and with the price of the game dropping, there will probably be more.

Ok here comes a stupid question. Or at least most of you will think it is.

What is the deal with players all huddling together during MP?

Like what is the point to that. I ask because I've played a few times on diffrent levels and got players who did this. Then get killed off. They don't even revive me if I'm not in the huddle zone.
But I run to revive them.

So please someone tell me why players do this.

And no its not during an upload part of the game. I'm talking about during the game.

Thanks and....

Have A Good Day.... Have A Good Weekend

Multiple people together as a collective are a lot more stronger than separately, focus firing can take down a difficult target before the get to them meaning uninterrupted fire. Them factor in all the combos from detonations etc. You take a big risk running around solo too.. Don't expect to get resd..

On silver and below though a lot of players are confident enough on their own, this can make waves quicker cos silver and bronze aren't very hard. It also splits up enemies across the map. On gold everyone sticking together can make things more difficult which is why I prefer grouping in pairs.

Also it is a coop game lol.

This post makes me more disappointed than I could have imagined. Why did it take so long for this announcement to be made? Why isn't there a sticky? I know the lack of communication isn't necessarily your fault, but this looks bad no matter how I look at it. I'm going to have to remember this, among many other points, before I consider buying another BioWare game in the future.

It also looks like they're not adding any further incentive to keep people interested. I understand we're not exactly entitled to anything to replace weekends ops, but a simple token of appreciation for the fans' patience and loyalty would have been nice. At the end of it all, it feels like BioWare were saying, "Oh, you're still here? Didn't you get the gist of it two weeks ago? We're done. Bye."

For his kindness. We played the MP without pay monthly, for now :)
They really know how to run the business

I love EA

Money is not the object...I pay gladly for quality...the key word is "quality"...bad games are a dime a dozen.

This one gets it. Others have been indoctrinated. Really.

Actually thinking about it ME3 has run two different systems in parrallel. Perhaps it's been an experiment of sorts.

On the one side you've got the SP team producing high quality (debatebly in the case of Omega) DLC which is paid for.

Then the  MP team going on the Microtransaction model, putting out free DLC, but not really supported - no bug fixes etc.

I'd prefer the high quality - fully supported, but paid for model personally. Yes the free dlc has been cool and all, but we'll never know how much better it could have been if we had to pay a few dollars for it like they've done in Borderlands 2 for example.
Some of the DLC has been quite good I think in BL2 - even if it is paid for. The trick of course is making it worth the purchase.

Good reasoning, but pay does not guarantee quality, guaranteed profits for the company ... remember the end of ME! :o

So this means it is now impossible to unlock the N7 weapons since we will not get the special reward packs that contain them anymore???

Man this is the only reason I was playing recently. Pretty lame in my opinion. Can't you automate the weekly events or something or maybe add a small chance for the N7 weapons to drop from Arsenal packs?

N7 weapons have been made ultra-rare weapons. You now have a chance to unlock them from Spectre packs and such.

THIS!

BIOWARE/EA are a buncha stupid jellyfish!

Seriously, the game is only a year old, just released the most recent MP expansion, and already ditching MP support (weekend challenges, bug fixes, etc.).

Not to mix apples and oranges, but I just got done playing the DEFIANCE beta for the last two days and I can completely say that I'd much rather give BIOWARE $60 to continue to support ME3 MP, than plunk down the $60 on that game.  :(

In line with what you said, as the price droped, I was starting to see more new faces in matches on XBOX (almost zero manifest, etc.).  Don't tell me I'm the only one seeing the new blood.  Wouldn't it have made more sense to do yet another release of ME3 with all the DLC?  Maybe with some promotional UR/commendation packs included as incentive, or even just drop the price and advert some community OPS to lure more players in?   Look at the BATTELFIELD3 premium model, they basically resold the game and cleaned up (even I broke down and bought it).

What kind of a company doesn't want more money?  It would seem that this game IP isn't exhausted yet, and that there is still money to be made (re-release the class tshirts already!).  If the dev team isn't available, out-source it, or re-contract.  Imagine 4 new maps, hazards, etc.  the bulk of the work has been done, but not capitalized on.

This is of course all rhetorical, because BIOWARE/EA are just a buncha stupid jellyfish.  :(

Why U no want more money?

About the number of people recently joining the game - I think ME3 recently was added to the PSN Plus free-to-play category, so there's currently even more people joining on PS3. They've arrived just in time to see the Reckoning DLC, which would be perfectly complemented by a couple more months of events... only to see tumbleweed and a sign saying "not open yet" leading everyone to believe it will be soon...

Why am I not surprised that after a year, EA/BioWare wants to screw everything with their games again. Mass Effect 3 has been one let down after another in practically everything they have done and how its been handled. No formal announcement that the weekend challenges are over is just another nail in this companies coffin for me.

Out of curiosity I just tried Halo Reach after a long time away from it. Guess what, they still have challenges going on, 5 of them every week (I think they are all still weekly). Hearing how Mass Effect 3 developers apparently cant be bothered to keep a single weekend operation event going for more than a year is just pathetic really. Cant figure out how to automate it?

I am worried about this “the servers and challenge systems will keep running as long as we can keep them up” bit. The way they just killed the challenges again without any announcement, I can see them killing the servers just the same way.

Of course I’m sure some people will come in and say “you are not entitled to anything blah, blah, blah.”. Been there and seen that already.

A years worth of free DLC and weekend events. How long do you think any company would/should do this for? Take off the hate specs for a second and let's get real.

It doesn't really come as a surprise at this point, but I'm still really bummed out by this announcement. :crying:

But even without official events I don't see myself quitting this game anytime soon. It's just too damn awesome! Great job Bioware, and thanks for the support!

A sad day for us all, but we all expected this day to arrive.

It's been an amazing year with the whole Mass Effect trilogy, and now ME3 has come to an end, the player base will rapidly decline, or at least the players who have stood by the game right from the start.

I'll be back for ME4, I hope they do things right and have learnt their lesson from ME3. Until then people, I'll be moving on to other things.

THIS

If new challenges aren't created, recycling old ones would be perfect for those who couldn't complete all the weekend challanges in time and keep life in the game.

Yeah this seems to be what happens to most if not all EA games nowadays. EA wants multiplayer on literally EVERY game under their banner (even on ones that don't need it) so the game lasts a year if lucky, then are abandoned. Because they don't care about the game itself, only whatever money they can milk from it.

Not to say ME3 Multiplayer was bad though, I thought it was fantastic and will continue to play it for as long as I can. =]     (I just hope the servers wont shut down before I unlock everything)

And as for the Challenges I'll do what I did for ME3's ending, simply make my own content. Its actually alot of fun
