Hey guys - so yes the servers and challenge systems will keep running as long as we can keep them up but there will no longer be any organized weekend events.
It is a bit of a shame, because the horde replacement survival mode on new gears of war judgement has turned out to be a bit of a stinker. IMO ME3 MP is still the better game.

My guess is they were trying to convince their superiors to let them continue giving us Weekend Challenges, thus the delay in announcing officially that they were done. (or they were given a vague answer) But it sounds like the boys made their choice.
I was really hoping they could have had some intern pump out like 50 of them in one day then just randomly pick one out until the servers got knocked out.
This is kinda my suspicion as well.
It’s a shame that we got all these new weapons, along with really
cool new kits (not to mention finally my beloved Collectorothean), and then a
couple weeks later, organized multiplayer ended. Strange.

I want an announcement from Hackett!!
Soldiers of the Milky Way,
After one year of great effort, Reaper forces seem to be finally in difficulty. We'll keep fighting until their complet defeate, but right now we all need a shore leave. Enjoy some time in the Citadel and then come back to fight at your best.
Hackett Out.

It's a shame the end of weekend events was such a damp squib. Could have been announced with a fanfare and a 'final push' event from Hackett. Instead it all sort of peters out.

Thx for continuing for support the game - I can't begin to imagine how much it must cost between M$ and Sony's money-grabbing, and the data fees for maintaining the master for N7HQ. Fingers crossed you can see it out till ME4 rolls, but if not - no hard feelings. Past year has been an amazing ride.

DEFIANCE is out in 11 days pre order now for mass co-op, multiplayer yes 2 seperate modes at same time and its a mass MMO.
ME3 is dead time to move on.
Seconded, I'm on the DEFIANCE XBOX beta tonite.
Really sad, and hard to understand. What kind of a pusher stops support after getting it's customer base hooked?!!?
Maybe its just me, but BIOWARE could sell me new stuff for this game from now ME4.
ME3MP RIP.
Not an EA controlled company.

You do realize that the ME2 servers are still running, right? The "Cerberus Network" still checks to see if you have Kasumi and LOTSB et al installed every time you start the game. ME3's servers basically do the same task, + update your online manifest. Games are hosted locally, not on dedicated servers. Why would they shut down the ME3 server after one year when ME2 is still going?
Cutting off the servers would require a very expensive multiplatform patch to the game to drop the connection requirement for DLC as well as the MP component of the SP galactic readiness equation. Keeping them running, however, is relatively very cheap, and they fully plan on continuing to sell many copies of ME1, ME2 and ME3 as long as the series continues to have new entries in the pipeline.

But are you going to recycle the weekend challenges? I still want those achievements! (And the pack rewards!)
They've said many a time they don't plan to award old stuff.
