Those worried about the servers being shutdown any time soon shouldn't. Most of the games that have had servers shutdown have been old sports games, games that had been long since dead or never alive in the first place.Good/popular games like Battlefield: Bad Company and Burnout Paradise still have servers going almost five years after their releases. Burnout Revenge had it's servers up for 6 years before it's end finally came. Need for Speed: Carbon is 7 years old and it's servers are still going with no imminent closure.

So relax; we still have plenty of time with ME3.

Even so, the servers will inevitably be shut down sometime in the future, so IMO, the question of what happens to the game after is still relevant.

is it possible to have the weekend-events updated as generic challenges in the challenge system? To unlock banners, and acquire some challenge points?

This is just my selfish desire to unlock 1 banner I missed because I was visiting Japan.

So what about the challenge points based on completing ME3 Weekend Challenges? Some of us didn't do every single one. I understand the need to move away but come on.... surely a better compromise can be made here? Very sad news indeed.

I think they were too busy with the PAX east thing this week to get around to putting the weekend challenge on. What sucks is i have nothing to do for this game this weekend now. You'd think that they would do something special because its PAX and they messed up last week.

They added two new challenges for that reason: Unknown Map Extractions and Unknown Enemy Extractions.

They added additional challenges to squad elite so you no longer need the challenges to complete it.

 Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Sucks that all good things always come to an end at one point or another. Oh well. I will still be playing until I can play no mo.

The twenties in my wallet miss the twenties that were there, spent on the store on a multi-player game for guns I'll never actually own. I learned my lesson, bioware will never get a micro transaction from me again. Was it really that difficult to respond to this issue?

Well could you at least pull the weekend challenge requirement from the 'Squad Elite' Challenge. I have 8/9. Looks like I'll never get that 9th.

I'd be cool with the weekend challenges progress getting zeroed or deleted. As it is, ugh...

They added the new Unknown Enemy and Unknown Map challenges to squad elite so you can still get it without completing weekend challenges.

Speaking of which, I had something new happen to me the other day.  I was playing with the N7 Demolisher and i was distracted for, um, reasons, and saw a horde including a Praetorian behind me.  I threw a homing grenade at the Praetorian with 2 armor bars on silver (which usually does the trick).  On the game feed, it said my player committed suicide.  Never had that happen.  Anyone know why?

That was a fantastic year of MP fun, and I am sure I will continue till I completed the MP.

Sad! I'll keep playing but what happens when the servers are shut down? We'll only be able to gain 50% of the war assets of the Game then in SP. I'd say that is not fair! I'll miss the MP! That's why I'll keep playing as long as possible.

well hope u happy bioware losing most of the fanbase yes i no u concentrating on the next mass effect but still we need something until this happens there are some people out there who have only just started their ME experience and they gonna miss out i dont care but give them newcomers a chance to get their new weapons an characters even if the prize is more xp dont give up on us u will lose alot of loyalty for ME4 which i cant wait for but ME3 is NOT dead yet come on guys keep going jus cuz shepard is dead does'nt mean mass effect is keep believing

Reckoning is free to download until 26 February 2014.

This for me means that there will be no server shutdown until then and we will have the multiplayer available.

I also would doubt that the server will be shut down just one day after there was the possibility to download Reckoning. But who knows.
