Sadly, what I read here got confused really fast. RtO is not what broke the game. It was the "title update" that they sent through xbox live to ostensibly fix an achievement glitch. I didnt' care, because Idon't care about achievements. But now, somtehing that worked yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, that I paid for, has STOPPED working. It's like having a newish car break down and being told that, well, there's no part available to fix that. You'll just have to live with it.

The thing that broke us wasn't a long-delayed anything it was a "fix" that broke more than it fixed. As someone who didn't buy Rto, but still can no longer have any character specialize, I'm a bit perturbed, considering I could last week. For the same money.
I don't think I'm being too pushy to expect something to keep working.

There are two issues here and what you are talking about is one while the delay to RtO is the other.   Arguably, yours is more important and it wouldn't surprise me if RtO has been sidelined while they deal with the "title update" problem.  Frankly, I'm a bit more mystified and concerned that they screwed that up then I am about the continuing RtO delays, but neither reflects well on Bioware.  That said, all we can do is wait it out.  Odds are that it will be fixed shortly.

Now, if they would only fix this website . . . Image IPB

No, they don't. They should however improve their plans for DLCs. Can't make it? Probably going to need to delay it? Don't set a date yet.

Then they get blasted on the forums by people who complain that they don't communicate with their clients and that they need to give more information.

They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

That's pretty much it. The ME one DLC debacle was made worse by Biowares overwhelming silence. This time round they have been nothing but transparent about release dates and the reasons for pulling the product. Personally i'm not bothered because i know the DLC  has been made, i know it's the finished product it just needs tweaking. I'd much rather be in that position than having to read 'DLC ???!?' Posts every 3 days on the forum.

There is a simple solution. One that is win/win for both sides of the RTO delay. Keep it simple. Just come on the forum and say yes we are planning some DLC. End of thread. The day before it gets released then say ya here it is. What kills me about the delay is this. I found out about it through Facebook. I caught an announcement saying "check out our site tomorrow for something cool". And the next day they announced RTO for X-Mas. I stopped playing the moment that second announcement was made. And so did others. They claim they want people to enjoy thier game then they tell us that we should probably wait for something cool like that. Something that appears pivotal to the beginning of the game.

Game delays are nothing new. Get used to it.

BioWare and EA owe us nothing.

If they owe us nothing then, likewise, we owe them nothing. That includes our patronage. If, however, they want our patronage, even our consumer loyalty, then perhaps it behooves them to do more than the absolute bare minimum of what we are "owed".

And, to be perfectly honest, I paid BioWare good money in good faith for a product they officially and publically announced would be released within hours. They now have my money. They did not release their product. How do you come to the conclusion that they do not owe me anything?

Perhaps inserting "my" and I ...in your sentences would help...you don't speak for me ...you might ask others in this thread if you speak for them however.    *nod*

They speak for me.

So inserting "I" and "my" in those sentences would be bad  grammar, wouldn't you say?

Good money...a WHOLE WHOPPING EXORBITANT Five dollah.......I can exaggerate too..yups I can. :)

Begging your pardon?  Now, I'm neither an accountant, nor did I major in math, but the last time I checked, 5 dollars was more than nothing.   So when someone comes on here and falsely claims that Bioware owes us nothing, we can point to  that five dollars  we paid them and say:  "wrong... they owe us 5 dollars worth of  product...

And until they pay up, you don't have an argument...

They didn't release that MS did. Maybe it is you who needs to go back and read the thread.

Oh, so now Microsoft is the one making patches for the game? Really?

i really think they shouldnt give us some discount just because of the delays, if they have these kind of problems with the budget they have now then it wouldnt make sense to lower the budget for them now would it? so i'll gladly pay as long as i get my DLC in working state.

I haven't read all the pages here, but my husband is in game development and these things happen guys. You can try and rush Bioware all you like but bugs don't evaporate just because the public demand it and Bioware don't intentionally put bugs into a game just to break it at release.

Programs are complex beasts and the more you add to them the more can go wrong. Sometimes bugs aren't even replicable 100% of the time. I don't know how many QA Bioware have but it's impossible to try out everything in a game as complex as dragon age with just a small team of testers. Once it's released you get thousands of people playing the game and the combinations of events and character positioning, and oo I wonder what happens if I try this and various other things that all seemed to work well show up. Bioware then have to track that down, and if they can't replicate it on their set up it makes it even harder.

You guys should be pleased that Bioware are responsible enough to remove the defective download from purchase to stop other people from corrupting their game.

In summary, give them a break. You've all enjoyed the main game and are impatient for the DLC, but seriously spare a thought for the poor programmers working round the clock feverishly trying to fix this so it can be released. It's in Bioware's interest to get this out as soon as they can, they're not holding on to it to spite you.

It was the Title Update that screwed up the specializations, not RTO, and that wasn't rushed. They've known since not too long after release that some of the achievements weren't unlocking properly and have allegedly been working on an update to fix it since then. Problem is they fixed one problem only add another. Personally I'd rather have achievements that don't unlock properly than a title update that screws my saves.

Surely they had testers try playing the game after putting this sham of a title update into it. I find it hard to believe that none of those testers leveled up and noticed the locks were back on the specializations. You'd think that something like that wouldn't be tested on just a brand new character. Common sense would tell me that if you want to see if something is going to break a game, you try it with both new characters as well as old saves to cover any differences there might be between the two.

Just for the record, the phrase "the customer is always right", is a statement of company philosphy rather than fact: Meaning that even when they are wrong, they are right. Not saying it's a great or even an appropriate philosphy for modern companies, but arguing how true/untrue the statement is completely misses the point.

After reading this thread for the last hour that's all I've got lol. It's 1:30 am here and this thread has been good bedtime reading. Sleep well all :)

So its been 10 days since the delay, and still no release. And no fix for those of us who downloaded the buggy version.

Well, I am completely unaware of what the RtO issues are/were, since I didn't buy it, I did find two more things about the patch for the 360 version.

1) (to whomever said) No, MS didn't issue it. It's not a 360 system update, it's a patch Bioware created to fix a problem with achievements (one I could have lived without...but hey, I give them credit for trying). Problem is it broke other things.

2) On a happier note, once I did system maintenance and deleted the update (and the updates to every other game ..haha...the joke will be on me when I switch games and have to redownload them all, but they don't take that long so *shrug*.... as I was saying, I deleted it, then I went into a character save I had that was about to level up, got Alistair to agree to train folks in Templar, unlocking templar, then save and shut down. Then go back into the game, and level up. Viola! All my spec's were unlocked once again.

3) Noticed this too...while this was going on, all dog's warrior abilities had also disappeared. (I guess the PC folks don't even hve those abilities for dog, making him far less useful for pc. On the 360 he has taunt and threaten and all the things from the two lines of Warrior skills. they also reappeared after I fixed It.

I'll post this in a step-by-step in the 360 tech support forum or give a nod if someone else already has. It worked. Took a while to complete all the steps but it did work. so I have playable game that is reverted to it's pre-fixed/broken status.

Now, if only we can get the RtO hahaa... I think I'll just be happy that it works as advertised. I started knitting an afghan while waiting. We'll see how far it gets. I got one strip 8" wide by 65" long done.

Nuff from me.
