Spinning the RtO debacle

Learn from blizzard, godly killer of the MMO market, don't set release dates. I don't want to find out 3 times they I need to wait longer, after they gave a date. Yeah delays happen in the gaming market, we get it. However; delays happen more behind the scenes, not in public view. They set a release date for awakening because its pretty much done, if not already printed and shipped at this point.
I don't feel entitled to some kind of a gift basket because of their mistakes, but being a bit more polite about them and communicating in the future will go a long way in many peoples eyes.

The other day, I was in the mood for a burger. Really in the mood. I started thinking about how nice it would be, to have a Carls Jr $6 burger, some criss-cut fries, and a huge vanilla milkshake. So, stomach grumbling, and mouth salivating, I slap a ten-spot in my wallet, drive a couple of miles down to the nearest Carls Jr - only to discover that it was closed, because the kitchen had a fire and the restaurant needed to be remodeled.
Should I get a discount too?
The OP severely lacks perspective for all the complaining he's done in multiple threads on the RtO "debacle". To spend literally hours whining about a $5, hour-long, DLC being delayed, and then mistakenly released due to a multiple platform issue by a third party, is ridiculous. No doubt, there are questions that BioWare, EA, and MS should be asking themselves with respect to Quality Control, product testing and inter-company communications issues, but there are more menacing windmills in this world to tilt at.
This puts it better than I ever could.
Also, I love Carl's Jr. AND Don Quixote. Marry me, JAMiAM?
Sorry, but though my avatar is a cute elven mage, and I prefer to RP female heroines, I'm male, hetero, married with children, and have as much facial hair as a Dwarven Noble. Another bubble burst, I'm afraid...
Then we would get along famously in any pub-type setting, with many rounds.

I can't say as I blame them in that regard. I'm looking forward to it, just like everyone else, but the only time I really got piqued about this whole thing was yesterday when people were actually BUYING it from XBL Marketplace, spending actual money for it, then trying to download it and getting messages that they must purchase it again.
Now, that sounds more like a screw-up on MS's end and I'm sure they'll work it out (credit card transaction records and all that), but up to that point the endless drama's really been a source of entertainment.
Uhm, the kind of weak @#$% that you get when you download what is ostensibly a leaked version of the DLC? LOTS of people were on the boards, saying they were going to wait a few days to make sure RtO wasn't bugged before downloading before the complaints of the specialization bug surfaced.
Bioware has confirmed it WASN'T RTO that caused the specialization bug. If you read the sticky post about said bug or the post from yesterday morning when people began to realize the bug existed, you'll see that the specialization bug stems from the 360 title update that was supposed to fix the achievements.
So again. RTO had NOTHING to do with the 360 issues. We'd have had those issues RTO or no RTO.

You guys realize that attached to the RTO for the 360 there was also a large update/patch done with it as well....the patch the 360 was promised?

Having worked in software development, and having been a gamer for my entire adult life, I'm very familiar with blown deadlines. What I am not impressed by is how they've been throwing out release dates like it's going out of fashion and then not meeting them.
I guarantee you that if I ever went to a client and told them, "your software update is goign to be ready tomorrow" at 9am and by 5pm I tell them, "yeah... it's not gonna happen", I would get my ass handed to me by my superiors not to mention having a client who is less likely to renew his contract. If I did this twice, there's most likely no way a client would continue using my services.
In the same vein, Bioware can meet/not meet any deadlines intrnally, as far as I'm concerned. It's the public releases (PR) that bugs me: hyping up consumers for the holiday season, totally blowing that "deadline" with a lack of public response, hyping up consumers for Jan 5th, blowing that at the last minute, hyping up consumers for same-day release yesterday, blowing that and then revising what was posted this morning - that's the kind of unprofessional conduct that IS NOT regular, intelligent, or customer-oriented in software development of any kind.
I'd like to think I'm not the only one miffed by Bioware/EA's handling of the situation, hence my suggestion for a positive form of response that includes no release dates and encourages consumer approval.
I'm also involved in software development.
Though I agree on your general points here, again, it is a matter of perspective, or proportion. It is a $5 add-on to a game. It is not a mission-critical piece of accounting software that you have to have right now. Yes, it is disappointing that they missed the release dates, and empathetically embarrassing to watch the most recent screw-up. However, it is more akin to stubbing my toe in front of others, than the gory trainwreck of disaster that so many here are making it out ot be.

By the way. Apparently they had delayed the release of the PC version of the main game for several months (!) because the console versions weren't finished yet. If you'd get your wish, I would demand something for free too, to make up for that.
On that note though, I played through it, its not an hour long DLC. There was very little in terms of voice acting, there were huge things that happened that even whiny alistair didn't even COMMENT on. It was just *run here, kill that, now run down there.

The patch we got yesterday wasn't the patch that was supposed to be the 'big' one everyone is pissing and moaning about. It was just to fix achievements. And it was that patch that broke specializations. People that didn't get RTO yesterday got the bug with the specializations, also. So blaming the DLC for that bug is just blowing smoke up your own ass. Someone, I forget which thread they posted it in, posted a link with info on how to get rid of the title updates for DAO, and therefore fix your specializations issues.
Wasn't that just the patch for Tuesday, when they usually update because they said themselves that you guys (360 users) would not get a patch till RTO was brought live since it was tied in and they couldn't seperate it.
