Personally i'd like to see Elton John make an appearance as a commanding officer of the Darkspawn in new city you need to reclaim.
That'd be expensive voice casting...

I mean a digital version of him in a pink outfit and a fairy wand running around, he'd look badass.

The Rocketman could do anything.

So far all the DLC armor have been massive armor (Blood Dragon, Warden Commander, and the king's armor in RtO) so it would definitely be a welcome change. I know it's nice getting to pimp up Sten, Alistair and Ohgren from head to toe in shiny armor, but I think my Warden should get some loving as well on that department.

I would want something episodic. Some larger chain-quest that would continue piece by piece, so that even though a single episode of the DLC-series might only last a couple of hours, the overall lenght of all the episodes added together would make the adventure as a whole much longer. This would help make the stories in the DLC adventures more subsistancial, and possible cliffhangers inbetween the episodes would make the wait for new content even more intense!
This.
classical RPG modules, each spanning 2-3 levels that can be stitched together to your own campaign.
Actually DA:O already plays like such a campaign, made of 5 different modules. The Blight is just a superordinated plot-device.

Second, epic episodic beats random shenanigans everyday of the week

This is probably a huge challenge... Maybe the decisions you make in the DLC will only affect the DLC and not the main game and add-on...

Kal Sharok, the old Dwarven capitol is the only other city inhabited by Dwarves, and it is thousands of miles away apparantly so we won't be seeing that any time soon.
Hell yeah I was expecting that too. After I read about Kal Sharok I was wondering what it would be like if it were made into a DLC. I would want that since I know there will be lots of action and darkspawn killing there

mmmh, would love to see more new areas instead off more items. or new big epic quests in areas we visited.
I meant desirable items, say for example:
Duncan's Armour
(New Waraxe)
(New Mage Robes)
(4 New Shields)
(New Staff)
(Gold)
Released for something like 40-80 points.
ow ic, that would be cool. Not a heavy rpg man myself, this is the first 1 i enjoy

I want Crows coming out of every orifice for about two hours. I want some Locke Lamora nonsense, here. I know, I know, wrong game for that style, but assuming you lack a certain party member, then the job isn't done, and if you do have him, he should be earning his keep, right?
Otherwise, I'm pretty easy about DLC. Not item packs. That would be annoying. Would much prefer story and combat driven DLC. Items in those as candy, that's great. A companion or two would be nice, but not necessary.

I assume there's going to be one involving Sophie's Guard and Habren (the girl you pickpocket for the Tiara in Denerim's Market Place). But I think a lot of people overestimate what DLC is. At best you're getting a short sidequest using 90% recycled material, so you aren't going to see a new area of Thedas or get an exposition on a major plot point.
We did with other games. I'll keep my hopes up. Probably foolishly.
But I will anyway.

An addin can only go so far without causing problems in the main game. Balance, continuity, immersion, all this is on a knife edge when you add new stuff into the game. I don't see a point in playing the game again just because there is a new quest to get a new set of armor, an overall update that adds many new variants into the game yes, but not a few single items.

Speaking of Orlais, do we know where Awakening is going to take place? I wonder whether it'll still be in Ferelden, or if it will branch out.
I wouldn't mind a DLC that further explores the Brecilian forest. It's obvious that there are alot of elven ruins there, and it would be nifty to start rediscovering the ancient cities of the elves.
Amaranthine
just on the edge of ferelden.
cant say much else without being spoilers...
