Apart from host dependency, why do so few people use the Graal?

I hadn't used the Spikethrower in a while and decided to use it on a GE against Collectors Gold, it really is a lovely weapon, with hunter mode in particular you can get perfect headshot across the map, it staggers, is good against armour and has almost unreal synergy with incendiary ammo. I think I might use it more often now. The only issues it has are 1. you have to host and 2. you usually need something against Guardians though with hunter mode mail slotting might be easier.

Because 99% of the people who have it don't know how to use it.

Apart from host dependency? Maybe because it cant pierce cover? That's a slight annoyance. Pretty great weapon all round but there are more great shotguns than any other weapon type so it has stiffer competition.

It's too intimidating for them.

Because nobody listened to you when you tried to push it about 1 year ago. :)

It's also cursed by the same stupid laggy projectiles that every other gun in this game has.

Fire it, and the shot fires, but the damage and hit detection are based on latency, not the actual projectile. This is the wrong way around. Projectile weapons in Q3 and UT fire based on latency; so 100ms latency means 100 ms extra mortaring or leading. In ME3, all the leading and mortaring in the world won't make a GPS hit every time with 100ms latency.

Hence why it's possible to shoot your GPS, the gun firing instantly but you hit a target square on and it deals no damage.

If it had cover penetration it would be pretty OP but what it does offer is pretty amazing.

For me? Host dependency is the only reason. I have a hard enough time not dying without one out of three shots being a dud, especially with the charge-up making those duds even more costly.
I love the gun to death when it works. But it doesn't work well enough off-host to justify using it for me.

Once I got it in SP I never removed it from my vanguards loadout, explosive incendiary ammo power was so much fun with it. Going from that to the MP version it's never felt quite right.

Probably shotguns are the most clogged catagory of badass weapons.

Now that you mention it... I haven't used it in months. I'll have to recitfy that this evening.

Not a great boss killer, no pierce, kinda heavy, doesn't CC as well as the Scorpion. I do use it, but not as often as I used to. I had some good times with Graal Asari Vanguard.

Idk. Since that patch that fixed the graal/falcon (r.i.p. old falcon) I don't use them much. Doesn't feel the same.

No cover penetration. Lacks against bosses. Travel time on shots. Hots dependant. Doesn't even pierce guardians.

If hit anywhere but the head the damage is nothing to write home about. But if you do - it's awesome.

There are 63 guns in the game.

Most people probably don't understand that lag is the culprit for the Graal's failing.

So it's easier to just use a different gun instead.

It is a nice weapon.
Peeps are just reluctant to use something that takes some getting used to/learning.

It's got decent accuracy and with HM/Smart choke it's accuracy is even better.

It can be used effectively off host, but at short range, mid at a push (good connection)

Works well on my Fury

I disagree about the boss killing. Against Collectors it is very good. It kind of sucks against Atlases for some reason but it's pretty good against Banshees.
