Apart from host dependency, why do so few people use the Graal?

Ummmm ... it's probably my favourite shotgun, especially on CQC classes, because the stagger is so good and being a shotgun you can mount an omni-blade. Because it's a projectile weapon you don't really lose anything with the omni-blade either, AP mods are essentially pointless as is the Smart Choke and it's got a reasonable amount of ammo on it from the get-go.

It's not too heavy and does a huge amount of damage to most things, especially if charged... to the point where I've accidentally OSK'ed Phantoms and then ended up standing there doing a Falcon punch on nothing (oops). As an added bonus, you can also snipe with the damned thing (useful on drone escort missions for instance).

I use it on the Krentinel, BatSol, KroLord and Talon all the time and a few other kits occasionally...

I hate it with the same passion as I hate all other charge up weapons. Just too bloody annoying to use.

The weapon model is ugly...;) and the projectile behaviour off-host is completely unintuitive

Too many other shotguns are easier to use

I stuck it on a krogan adept last night for a quick test solo bronze for a wave or two which is what i often do when trying a weapon or combo. I couldn't hit jack sheet with it. Dumped it for the Raider which I am becoming fond of.

Weapon is easy to use:

F*cktons of damage

Weapon is hard to use:

Not as high damage as the easy weapon.

Bioware logic.

I have never used the Graal because:
a) I thought it was a dumb concept of a shotgun
B) I have the N7 Crusader

1. It is a Krogan weapon. It doesn't need to be smart, it needs to be deadly.
2. I give you that. Crusader is a tool of merciless annihilation. But heavy as hell.

I used it a few days ago after a looooooong time (I had used it for the challange in October) on original Krogan Sentinel vs Collectors. It is very good against them and the Reapers. Against Cerberus and Geth GPS is probably better in most cases.

There's only room for one Krogan shotgun in my armory, and that's the Claymore. If I want a light and deadly shotgun, I'll pick the Wraith over the Graal every time.
It's still a fun weapon to use on classes that aren't as cooldown dependent, such as the Destroyer, Krogan, Demolisher, etc.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the Demolisher is holding up a Crusader in her menu picture.

Only thing the Crusader has over the Graal is peneration. Graal can OSOK Platinum Phantoms with headshots and staggers them every time to boot.

The Claymore is NOT a Krogan shotgun; it is manufactued by aliens; the Graal IS made by Krogan.

Both are Krogan Shotguns.

Host dependency alone cuts down the potential user base to 1/4. On top of that, there is also the issue of not being able to shoot through so called team mates that block shots or cover. Other non-penetration weapons offer other large advantages such as AOE stagger or increased damage to shields/barriers.

It's fun to stare down and send a phantom flying across the map with one charged Graal headshot, but, it's a lot easier to stun lock her to death with a couple of Adas, Acolyte, Scorpion, Krysae, or Falcon shots and powers.

And the Graal is the niche weapon between all of them. It has medium weight, extremely high damage, and is accurate. Also, no shieldgate, ignores armor, gets even higher damage when charged, higher headshot multiplier.

The bad thing ofc is no penetration. And off-host dependancy. And people's general unwillingness to use anything that's not as simple as a Harrier.

I used it for a game after reading this thread... it was ok. I didn't like only having 3 shots... and I was off-host which made it a bit more challenging/annoying than I liked. Trying to shoot a Captain who was spawning a Swarm... and having the shot only hit the swarm, was not cool... and it got me shot.

Wrong

The Claymore description makes no sense.  It is human designed.  Used by Krogans because blah blah blah that we know is complete crap.  The manufacturer is not stated only that it is protected by FRM and prohibitively expensive.  I never got the impression that Krogans have a lot of money.

It would honestly be one of my favorite weapon if I hosted, but I use it quite often if I solo. I'm just too impatient to wait for lobbies to fill.

I like it best on a tanky characters because it's more possible to just walk up to mooks and shoot them in the head and survive.  With a squishier character, you have to corner shoot more which can interfere with aim on a non-penetration weapon.

I use Graal on all my Krogans.  They hardly run.  Just walk and shoot, and FE.

I rarely ever host games, and I only do it specifically for the purpose of using the Graal or a Vanguard.  So usually, I use the Graal on a Vanguard, and I bring an SMG or an Eagle with ULM as a sidearm for Guardians.

If it could be used more easily off-host, I'd use it all the time.  Great range, pretty good power, and one of the more reliable stagger weapons on the game.
