1. Is it possible to use the DM camera in single mod? as in zoom-out as much as you want and move the camera in strategy mod as far as you want from the pc? (if not, is it possible to get the camera farther away then possible in the normal game?)
2. Can you use the overland map as part of the normal game (fight monsters/ cast spells and such) or does it have its own set of closed functions?
3. Is it possible to turn the camera somehow to other directions in strategy mod?

2: The overland map functionality appears to be hard-coded. You *could* have an entire module based on overland map areas, but you wouldn't be able to cast spells or use items (except via scripting). You should be able to attack hostiles with melee or ranged weapons (although I've never tested that). I have an overland map where you can hunt wild game, but the ranged attack that brings them down is scripted through a conversation node (you have to sneak within range without being detected and 'talk' to the prey).
An entirely overland map module would make for a great 'Waiting for Godot' conversion though.

I bet it's gonna be hard... When you say "you wouldn't be able to cast spells or use items (except via scripting)" so using scripting it is possible?
I was thinking about warcraft 2 type of game or heroes of might and magic game (which would be easier but I dont think you could have more then one hero)...
Do you know about number 1 btw?

i was starting work on an overland map map with the camera fixed (as it is) but near to the height of the standard camera - i tested it in game but i did not get far enough on that idea to test combat
as for #1 - best way to find out is to experiment!

Yeah, but where do you start off at? try to script a camera with a huge zoomout?

have a look at how a MP mod runs - since ive never done that, figuring out the MP GM camera works is likely unique to MP mods (hardcoded)
scripting a camera will only work in a conversation afaik
