Do companions left behind level with you?

Didnt seem to , but surely they must do or thats a bit silly.

They should gain enough XP to match the player's level when they rejoin the party.

if thats the case the cool , just i read somewhere they didnt but that seemed to silly to be true. But i remember some older RPG's didnt level unused party members.

Not exactly.
If you remove a certain companion from the party, and adventure without him/her for a while, then add that companion to the party again, he/she will gain some amount of XPs. But in MotB, unlike in OC, the companions' XPs are not automatically equalized to that of your PC.

I usually play MotB using a PC whom I exported near the end of OC. Thus, my PC starts at 20th-level with nearly enough amount of XPs to reach 21st-level. At that point Safiya is level 18th. Then, usually, my PC reaches 30th level before finishing MotB but Safiya doesn't.
