To the OP: I see no similarities between the two. A Grey Warden fights the Blight using any means necessary (good or evil) to reach his/her goal. A Grey Warden doesn't care which political force has power, unless that power favors the Blight. You can gather some allies in the game which you would normally fight against when playing as a pure good character.

Feel free to message me these powers!!

How about being able to " sense disruptions in the force " ( sense darkspawn ) ??

stupid... The forces is in EVERYTHING in star wars. That includes, but is not limited to, rocks, trees, people, water, food, animals, etc. The taint is only in Darkspawn, the Archdemon, and the Wardens.

I also see very little similarity between Jedi and GW. Perhaps some similarity between GW and Spectre. Here some key differences:

How to become what you are:

* Jedi are born with force-sensitivity, but generally have to be trained. The masters decide who gets to be trained. Once trained they will always have their powers, even if kicked out later.

* Spectres are chosen individuals by the council. They are not receiving special training, but are eligible for special weapons. Their status can be removed.

* GW may be conscripted forcibly, even though usually they are chosen individuals. They don't get trained or special weapons. Once joined a GW will always be a GW. It's a one-way road.

Rules:

* Jedi must adhere to the codex. They generally also adhere to local law of the place they are in, but may act and be judged differently than normal people.

* Spectres only report to the council. They are "above" common laws. They can do all, they feel necessary to get the job done and basically have an unlimited license to kill.

* The GW have a main purpose: Fighting Darkspawn. Basically they can use any means available, even magics disapproved by the chantry. But they are almost like (needed) outlaws. There is no codex. They can do all deemed necessary to get the job done.

Powers:

* Jedi have the basis of their power before becoming a Jedi. They get trained and gain powers seperating them from all living beings.

* Spectres are already the best of the best. Additionally they get the right to roam freely, have high priority communication, special equipment, and have legal immunity.

* GW are chosen individuals, who make it through the joining. Their fate is determined by the taint and the only special powers are related to sensing and killing Darkspawn. Their powers don't match anything near the Jedi. They get no special equipment either.

Purpose:

* Jedi are to fight injustice and uphold peace and laws in the galaxy. And fight dark Jedi, if needed.

* Spectres are to fight anyone, who threatens the galactic peace. They can initiate missions and investigations by themselves. But they are actually special agents of the council.

* Grey Wardens only live to fight Darkspawn. After becoming a GW, their whole life, fate and even death is dedicated to this goal.

There are some important differences between these three, but from a RP point of view the Spectre is closer to the GW.

I have to add one correction to the Jedi: A Jedi can get his powers revoked, as seen in KotOR, but only with brute force (similar to the rite of tranquility), and with a small chance of the delinquent to regain his powers later again.

Concerning the irreversibility of the taint: So far research in this matter failed. If there is a chance, it's unknown.

Jedi are much cooler than Grey Wardens, and Spectres woud just nuke the darkspawn from orbit.

Yea, not so different then a lot of games, novels, or movies who have the protagonist join some elite fighting force that's closely tied to top levels of government. Think "Soldier" from FFVII.

Not very different from modern day SAS, SEALs, or Black Ops or something except that these fictionalized fighting forces have something special about them - Jedi and their force, Wardens and their taint, etc.

The purpose of special forces as you mentioned in the real world is completely different from the purpose of Grey Wardens and Jedi Knights.

There seem to be a lot of things dragon age has in common with Lilith Saintcrow's "watcher" and "dante valentine" series. Most notably the taint and the circle of mages.

Anyone else sense a similarity between the Grey wardens and Jedi knights?
They are both powerfull peacekeepers and guardians with arcane mystical powers who appear in times of dire need and sort stuff out !! Or is it just me ? lol

No I think there are only very, very superfical similarities. Grey wardens draw much of their power for the taint which is eveil and will eventually kill them or drive them mad.

The force is a little different, having a dark and light side, being the power that binds the universe together.

Grey wardens also only fight the blight they aren't peace keepers or bringers of justice their only remit is to fight the blight and the dark spawn. Soldiers peak shows what happens when they ignore that remit.

Grey Wardens are more towards Sith for one reason. That reason it because Grey Warden are not afraid to sex you up. Jedi are forbidden from sex, but Sith recruit people by putting a sign on their temple saying "Free sex".

Grey Wardens are not good. Jedi Knights are. Mathods of Grey Wardens include murders of innocents just for keeping secret about drinking darkspawn blood... what a nonsense. And i never wanted to become Grey Warden in DAO - I always refused when asked, but that Duncan forced me to join, I hated him all game and was glad he died in the start, else I had to kill him myself later.
