I've seen players that have portraits on their profiles, and I was wondering on how to do that. I've looked everywhere and I still don't know how people customize their profile appearance. Can someone give me an answer on how?

The N7 HQ. I don't know how people put photos on the background for their ME3 multiplayer profiles.

Those are the baners for completing challenges. You select one by going to the challenge awards tab of the N7 HQ. Selecting one will also cause it to show up in multiplayer lobbies. If you haven't completed any challenges yet, you won't have any baners.
