Several reasons, including:
1) No minimum/recommended specs to consider.
2) No (obvious) DRM (Digital Rights Management) for most games.
3) PC or PCs may be shared amongst family members.
4) Can be difficult to play some games with multiple people on one computer, easier on consoles.
5) Familiarity/Comfort with console controllers versus keyboard and mouse.
6) PC may be dedicated for non-gaming tasks. See also 4) above.
7) A good gaming PC can cost more than a current console. NOTE: I am sure a dedicated PC gamer here can refute this claim, but I have seen this argument more than once. The next generation of consoles will undoubtedly see an increase in cost, just not sure if it will match/exceed a new gaming PC.
8) Brand loyalty/console exclusives.
9) More portable so you can borrow/lend with friends and family as required. Most games can be easier to lend as well; DRM, game registration restrictions on PC can restrict game sharing.
And I know at least one person who says he likes playing on Xbox because he works with computers all day.
Edit:
10) Comfy chair/recliner/bed for playing consoles.
