What is the real reason people play on X-box as opposed to PC?

Price is not an issue for myself. I played for years on PC, but grew tired of being limited to a desk and chair. Granted, there is no reason I cannot hook up a PC to my TV now. I do recall grief with PC software, bugs, and drivers, which are usually not a concern on console. And, ummm, Origin...

Ultimately it is simply that Xbox allows me to sit on my couch playing (comfort/convenience).

If I were into any clan/league play however, it would be via PC--no question.

I have played PC games for awhile (years) and console games (since the first ones came out) and I bought my XBOX specifically for Mass Effect 1 when it first came out. I was trying to decide on which console to buy bc of the new gen graphics. At the time I was only playing text based RTS games on PC, my little laptop, circa 2001 or so, was not great for PC gaming and I am a dedicated laptop user.

Since all my saves were on my original XBOX 360 elite, and it was planned as an exclusive to XBOX originally I never even considered playing it on PC until ME3 came out and the multiplayer was added.

The only reason why I play it on PC at this point is an alternative to playing the multiplayer on XBOX when others in my household want to use our television and for convenience (any room- or anywhere I travel I can bring my laptop to play multi if I want).

I hate Origin but I love the ME universe so I suffer through it :)

But the XBOX is where all of my Shepard saves are and the original experience for regardless of what anyone says about quality that's where it started for me and I see no reason to instigate new play throughs for ME1-ME3 just for the PC version.

Pc's that can handle games properly cost alot more than a console does. Games on pc are always evolving for the fastest speeds. Your pc becomes obsolete for games faster than a console does. I also like playing on a big screen tv while lounging on the couch not stuck on a chair in front of the tiny computer screen.

While i'd entirely agree for the most part of the 2000-2010 decade, i find that statement has not been so true these 4~5 years. I see several reasons for that: PCs where limited by console ports, also because the increase in raw frequencies stopped in favor of higher cache memory and multi-core cpus. The games had to catch up.

On the purely graphics side, as long you don't use some specific options (like very detailed shadows or huge depth of view), most games are still quite ok with GPUs from 3 or 4 years ago.

Having both PS3 and PC myself, if a game mostly revolves around fast reaction/movement and shooting, i'll want a mouse+keyboard. I do ok with a controller, but dislike how it feels. In my mind, console fps don't even exist.

I will be getting a computer in the near future and might buy the trilogy if it goes on sale or something. My computer is simply nowhere near the specs to run Mass Effect, and I would need to drop some money on replacement parts before it's useable for any sort of gaming, anyways.

I play on 360 and will continue to because my manifest will not transfer over to PC. It's got nothing to do with having a computer that can run it. I started the trilogy on 360, so that's where I finished it. With that said, I won't make that mistake again.

Seems far less problems, based on what I read here and feedback from reading on the net, based on what I have read it's far easier to use cheats on a PC vs XB, based on what I have read XB cheaters are dealt with by XB is they tamper. I have PC's that will run this game easily and I have quite a few RPG games for PC but personally like the XB on a big flat screen.

I have a console to play the Mortal Combat series :)
FPS gaming on a console is terrible though... I am pretty sure that trying to play some of the classic FPS games like UT, Q3A or Doom3 with a controller would result in an epic fail... This spray&pray stuff can be played easily though and it will stay as no one will produce a FPS that is exclusively designed for PC which is very sad... These games were much better

Unreal Tournament 3 was released on consoles... The console versions are horrendous.

It's not even funny how pathetic the game is on console compared to on PC. The game speed is noticeably slower, there's no twitch shots, no strafing, no mortaring, no leading, no trick movement,  ridiculous levels of auto-aim (I'm talking COD esque auto-aim, where the bullets fire at the target, not at the crosshair)...

Epic proved with UT3 that twitchy shooters will NEVER make it on consoles... they just don't live up to their PC counterparts.

I hope if Epic ever make a UT4, they do the sensible thing and make it a PC exclusive.

But CoD is super awesome and it's even in the MLG circuit so you know it's good. :P

COD lost all credibility when they implemented auto aim which basically means you can shoot "near" a target enough, and your bullets begin automatically tracking towards them, hitting and killing them with 0 player input involved.

Pathetic.

Shooters should require aim, and should not include Call Of Duty bullet tracking...

I haven't played the PC version of any COD game, so I don't know if its any better, but the console version was just mind numbingly easy.

All of the COD guns except for the sniper rifles and pistols just require to aim in the 'general direction' of the enemy, bullet spray and high ROF take care of the rest... The classical shooters required much more aiming skills and the players were able to move much faster and more erratically... The maps were better too, I guess it is too much for the COD morons to memorize weapon locations for every map

Started ME on the Xbox, played ME2 on the Xbox... was all ready to switch to PC after getting ME1 and 2 on Steam, then ME3 turned out to be Origin exclusive.

So, played on the Xbox.

For me, it was the fact that I already owned an Xbox and my laptop was made for music and movies (hence the blu ray drive). Purchased it for the sole reason on watching movies while I was deployed. And I have had too many DVDs either in bad condition from letting others borrow them or they were never returned at all. So that is why I went blu ray(digital copies are even better so I don't have to lug the discs or pay to have them shipped).

For me it has nothing to do with price, I spend lots of money on computer hardware each year for work purposes. It is more that I would genuinely rather play on Xbox. I prefer to play on the couch in front of the tv. I spend too much time working on the computer, I'd rather not play on it too.

You can just as easy hook up your pc to your tv, plug in a controller and enjoy the same comfort level with most games, only it would not work with me 3 becouse it requires a mouse and keyboard.
A pc might cost more then a console but the games are generaly a lot cheaper (at least where i come from  (the Netherlands)).
The reason i game on consoles as well as pc are the exclusive titles, like the last of us or red dead redemption.
Even mass effect used to be an xbox exclusive.

That would require moving my desktop from my office to my tv on a daily basis. Way too much of a hassle. Really I prefer the Xbox.

Cause that mouse doesn't work for crap on this game for me. And PC is not left handed friendly at all.

There is no discernible difference in graphics despite the PC having better potential.

I just like the fact that I have not had to do any hardware upgrades since I bought my PS3 and Xbox and can still play all the games that come out.

and this.

I prefer the PS3 now over the Xbox as well as I have recently started having more issues with Xbox Live than PSN.  I dont understand that or would believe it if someone else had said this, but its true.

Well, I play on PS3, and it is as simple as a) it's what I am used to/most comfortable on and B) ease of use.

On point A - I grew up with my Dad teaching me how to play his Atari 2600 and Intellivision. I went from there to a Super Nintendo, then to a Playstation, PS2, and now PS3. A controller in my hand is what I am used to and what I have the most comfort in.

On point B - it seems like a lot of people who game on PC have built their own and/or have a lot of knowledge of it. I don't. I use one at work, use one at home for the Internet, but I can't comprehend either building or acquiring a PC that is capable of gaming at maximum capacity. Back before the ME Trilogy released for PS3, I did risk buying ME1 for my laptop -- having no idea if it could even run it -- because I desperately wanted to experience the story firsthand. Turns out, my laptop could run it, but it wasn't ideal and the keyboard/mouse controls felt so foreign. I got through it on the easiest setting, but I would not choose this as my primary gaming platform. I need a controller in my hand.

Just that simple.

There are several factors behind my choice. First, I have a mouse and keyboard in my clutches all day long, to the point where they're completely associated with working. I hate my job, so the last thing I want to do is be reminded of it when I'm at home after a 10 or 12 hour day. This applies to the days when I work from home as well.

Next, I've owned a Playstation since practically day one. I got one my junior year of high school, 1996. My list of consoles owned is long, both in quantity and chronologically; my first console was an Atari 7800; my brother had a 2600, but I really don't count that. This was circa 1985. Consoles are an integral part of my life in gaming, I've never been without one and game deities willing, I'll never be without one.

To continue, I like sharing my experiences with my friends and family. Most, if not all of the people in my immediate gaming circle are console gamers and have been for as long or longer than I. When I had a 360, my friendslist was enormous. The same can be said about my PS3 list. This is my crowd, these are my people.

I've dabbled in PC gaming; I loved UT '99 frenetic shooting, which made me go back and play the original Unreal. I rolled through Half-Life 2 back in 2004. My first experience with Call of Duty was on a PC. In spite of these forays, I never fully left the console realm.

Do PC produce amazing graphics when configured properly? Undoubtedly. Are the controls better for some types of games? Of course. The depth and breadth of the PC library is astonishing. On paper, it seems like a no brainer for any serious gamer.

Except, it's not. There are some things that transcend numbers and performance. I love the Metroid series. Not available on PC, emulators aside. No fighting or sports game has ever played quite right on a PC, in my opinion. They belong on consoles. Any sort of action-platformer is, frankly, better on a console because of the controls; again, just my opinion. As I'm not really a TPS/FPS uberfan, I can get a gratifying experience out of them on a console.

In the end, I just want to kick back on my couch, grab my controller, and get lost in Red Dead Redemption, or play some ME3MP, or even run around on Pandora in Borderlands. It's carefree and uncomplicated, unlike nearly everything else in my life. And I value that.

A decent gaming computer isn't that expensive today, but it was in 2005. And a decent gaming computer in 2005 isn't decent today. You might be looking at several upgrades between 2005 and now, all which could amount to several hundred to a thousand dollars. All verses a single Xbox 360 buy. So it is money.

I grew up playing on a console and while I have a PC perfectly capable of running Mass Effect 3 Xbox Live is a much more social experience. Having my friends in a party chat no matter what game they are playing is fun. Of course you can do the same with a PC, but it isn't centered around the same couch, sit down and play mentality. Also, why just the question to Xbox 360 players?

This.

All my RL friends play ecksbawks.

But i was able to persuade two of them to get Steam and play a little TF2 with me. So i'm technically still part of the master race.

Most gamers i know play on both, consoles and PC. Due to some games not being released on all platforms and too many games being only ported to PC, it makes sense to have more than just one gaming platform.

Was part of the master race up until the ps3 came out. Then there were always a few games that were pc exclusive that I kept playing. Silent Hunter 5 and some other games needs to be constantly online finally sent me over the edge.
Now just use the pc for porn, email and everything else that's not game related. PS3 master race ftw.

1. Origin.
2. Mass Effect 1, XBox edition
3. Mass Effect 2, XBox edition
4. Origin
5. Origin
6. Origin
7. Origin

My reasons, anyways. I've got more than enough of a computer to run ME3, I just don't want to.
