I don't know about you guys, but when I think of the right way to treat a friend, patronizing behavior and dishonesty are nowhere near the top of MY list.

Now, I'm not saying saying that letting Garrus win makes you bad person...
Actually, wait, that IS what I am saying.

Edit: If you missed because you were actually roll playing and your Shepard simply wasn't as good as Garrus, that makes sense.

I didn't let him win with male shep, and let him win with LI femshep. the more I look at those stats the weirder they seem. but I have to trust them so, yeah.

It depends on how you roleplay it....

Personally, unless I'm rolling an infiltrator (and I actually flipped a coin when I did my femshe infiltrator garrus romance run), there's no reason why my character should be better than a turian sniper.

Especially if you're coming from the older games where you couldn't use sniper rifles (biotic shepard being super good with a sniper rifle? Nah....)

Now, what Bioware should've done is what they did in the last two DLCs (Omega and Citadel). Allow for your class to determine whether or not you could make the shot....thus, if you were a non-infiltrator you wouldn't even be offered the choice whereas only infiltrators could make it....

Because Garrus is AWESOME. You want to keep his confidence up, let him think he can keep teasing your shooting skills. Keeps him motivated. I do it every time and the one time I didn't do it I felt like a horrible person.

Because Shep is the best and will always know that she is the best!!! Garrus comes in very close as the second best shot ever (archangel) I dont think he needs to know he isn't better then Shepard at winning a shooting contest to be stay awesome. Plus it was just friends hanging out and she was being nice.

This makes sense, the idea that Shepard of any class would automatically beat Garrus is kinda dumb, but at least it makes it consistant with the rest of the dumb game.

I figured the guy could use something good in his life.

Father and Sister missing on Palaven as well as the burdens that come with his elevated position amongst the Turians (which he's struggling with). That spot on the citadel seemed to mean a lot to him as well. So I figure the guy could use a little happiness no matter how small, amongst the chaos and darkness.

No. Garrus would hate being given a pity win.

I do because Garrus is a bro. He doesn't know I let him win and never will.

Garrus never came across to me as someone who needed his ego stroked, or pity wins.

Garrus is my Shepard's best friend, No. 2, ace. I know I would never let me best friend in real life beat me in anything, nor would that person want me to.

My Shepard isn't a sniper, so I really dislike the idea that he's as good with a sniper rifle as Garrus...
So my Shepard didn't let him win, he just plain missed...

I may choose to let Garrus win but I the player in control of Shepard have proven innumerable times that I don't always have the patience to pull off the perfect shot with a sniper rifle, literally I have wasted many bullets firing in the wrong spot.

I may have chosen to let him win but I rp it that he won on his own merits Shepard saved the galaxy twice, she was the spectre but Garrus was the better Marksman, My femsheps can handle it.

I do it just to get the line "I am Garrus Vakarian and this is my favorite spot on the Citadel." I agree that Garrus would want you to try your best, and if he ever found out that you missed on purpose, he'd feel disrespected. But he's an absolute bro and I like giving him his moment.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love this community? It would only bother him if he ever found out and he won't.

Do you beat your bros into the ground at games of skill because you can? Some friend you are.

I think Garrus knows in the long run that you let him win.

Garrus knows my Shepard would not have missed. Period. He never misses.

But he knows what Shepard was trying to do and is grateful for it.

of course, they do the same to me if they are superior at something.  simple example:  ill play chess and friend kills me, then we play some basketball, and I kill him.  you don't let them win.  they aren't girls.  *note:  girls have beat me at chess, not basketball.  Posted Image

My Shepard is an expert solider that can use any weapon, but Garrus just happens to be a better Sniper.
