Who do you think is the best writtent Antagonist in video gaming? and from what Game? and why?

I Have to go with "Mithos Yggdrasill" from "Tales Of Symphonia".

His Story as a Tragic Fallen Hero, the Fact He does what he does simply to save his sister and create a world without discrimination. The way you slowly Learn about His History, his true Identity, and The Mystery surrounding him and how he keeps being refrenced by every Spirit you come across in the first 2 Arcs of the game.

by far, an amazingly well written Antagonist...

So, who do you think is the best written Antagonist in gaming?

Gotta say Loghain. I hated him and was so happy when he was finally out of the picture, but it wasn't a hate as in he was annoying, it was a hate because he was such an evil bastard, and then you had some logical points of his own that got thrown in, like how he saw Cailan as an idiot, which he sorta was. He wasn't pure evil, he even got a following by fans, and for those of us who did hate him, it was such a great rivallry that made the end of his madness even more satisfying. He was Dragon Age's Machiavelli.

Probably Liquid Snake from the first MGS.

*SPOILERS for Metal Gear Solid*

Intelligent, cunning and proficient in combat. His resentment for Solid Snake stemmed from his belief that he was chosen to be genetically inferior and this fueled his dogged determination to fight against his perceived destiny by surpassing the legacies of both his twin and his father.

Kefka, mixture of fear loathing and anger every time he appeared.

Honourable mention to Vaas and the Joker of course.

Revolver Ocelot from the MGS series. There was just no one else who could pull the strings from behind the scenes like he did. Kojima really outdid himself when he wrote that character, making us believe that we knew who he was the whole time, only to find out that we were wrong about him in the end.

Jack of Blades from Fable The lost Chapter (The best fable game IMO)

Clever, intelligent, powerful, evil, has an awesome mask, kills your father and burns down your village, cuts out your sister's eyes and leaves her in the woods to die, can persuade you into killing your friend, uses you through out the entire game, kills your mother in front of you, turns into a dragon for an awesome boss fight, and the game can end with him killing you and taking over your body. (Which is my favorite ending because he is just that awesome. :3 )

The illusive man tbh. Hes at that grey line where he could easily be the hero. It helps too that Shepard is at that grey line where he could easily be the villain.

Kreia ranks up there.

Also, I have a robotic hard-on for SHODAN.

Also, no-one else spot the funny typo in the thread title?

Kreia from KOTORII, still one of the best.

The Alpha Sector General from Beyond Good & Evil.

T.I.M from Mass Effect.

Letho from TW2.

Don't you mean "******", "Idiot", "Noob", or whatever else we all named the rival as kids?

Definitely Kreia. As a character, party member, mentor, and antagonist, she's just... amazing. I have spent hours just listening to her dialogue.

Hmm. Saren and Sovereign were both pretty damn good in ME1, especially Sovereign. Kreia (KOTOR2) is also high up on the list, as well as The Illusive Man in both ME2 and 3.

I might get flamed for this, but personally I think Haytham Kenway from AC3 is one of the best written antagonists.

John Henry Eden also comes to mind from Fallout 3.
