Isn't that a good thing to kill the enemies, and the whole team benifits, I welcome the talons. Anyways I can accomplish about the same effect with my handy dandy black widow, its all about using what you have to the maximum effect.

There's your problem. It's SILVER. You could easily do nothing but spam lift, arc, or clusters and get top score easily. You are just seeing more cain mine users because it's new and peeps want to use their new shinies.

I thought the game was balanced for silver. At least that has always been used in every nerf thread ever written.

Don't get me wrong, trip mines are cool, but they aren't a game play issue. There's several grenade wielders who can wipe a spawn in seconds.


QFT, reave radius, spam them nades. Big Badda Boom.


Also, Talon on gold+ = reviving them every couple seconds. At least I need to be revived every couple seconds playing him :unsure:

yeah this is a load of hooey! Original poster got out done by a good player, TOUGH!
Talon is my fave, but I've still been outdone by good Infiltrators and others. So what?

I have to *work*, running round placing mines at ideal spots, listening for one going off so I can plant a 3rd...and about 1 explosion in 3 don't damage enemies, grrr (I should host games myself ot avoid that bug,exact same problem with arrows, depends on lag of the host it seems)
and avoiding getting shot cause yer squishy.

I do not spec for armor damage on Cain mines, it's a waste, unless maybe yer genuine expert player doing Platinum? I got for radius, I want ot ensure I get more than one enemy.
My goal is to wipe out the mooks, thus letting party concentrate on the bosses, I only spam mines in a FUBAR, in which case, any player with ANY sense would say "THANK YOU" *if* I manage to nuke the Praatorian etc about to wipe the team. ;)

Oh yes, it's a TEAM game, did original poster forget that? each class brings advantages. I *love* a good Juggernaut player nowadays, damn they make the game so much easier :)
But I sitll haven't gotten that class in any pack so far, gah!! :(


Batarian and Drell adapt can both do much the same damage as Talon engineer but are more "portable"
the batarian is WAY less squishy and kicks ass (I use maxed Lash to pull enemies up close then Reegar them to mush),
Drell Adept takes a lot of work and can do even better because Reave seriously kicks ass even when you run out of grenades (but bit of bad luck and yer easily dead lol)
etc etc

Stop whinging about what others can do, sigh

No. A better option would be to reduce the ability of the player to spam them, possibly by giving them a longer arming time, and/or making it so that planting a fourth mine doesn't explode the first and just de-activates.

The mines need their firepower if they are to be used defensively on higher difficulties, otherwise they will be useless unless combined on the same spot - which reduces the chance of even getting a kill and makes using them to protect objectives or multiple flanks much less effective.

If a loss of damage is implemented they should at least up the active mines allowed to four.

I like crazily spamming them with ammo packs at extraction, please don't spoil my fun - he is a squishy character, he has no tactical cloak or stim packs and he hasn't the weapon damage of other classes. Position on the leaderboards is not necessarily an indication of an overpowered character, many existing non-overpowered characters played well can shoot past others joining partway through matches, especially with bad team mates. Because mines are limited to grenade use using them alone to rely on for damage dealing is limited, they may be capable of wiping out multiple mooks and doing good damage to bosses, but a lot of the time a random husk will commit suicide on them before the rest of the enemies are even near it!

It currently takes four grenade icons to make the first explode manually, and another two at least to finish off a boss unless they stumble into them(and lets face it, often they miraculously fail to go off), Banshees just teleport past them a lot too. So four to six grenades at least to wipe out a boss, before you have even used any omnibow ammo, to replenish these you would have to run to two or three generous ammo boxes, or even more non-generous ones - or alternatively wait 26secs per grenade to recharge(if maxed). in many occasions you have multiple bosses converging, with no option to run to ammo boxes, requiring the player to use their ammo packs to replenish grenades if required, again these are limited to a maximum of six.

Just see how long those last you if you are spamming mines at bosses, its not long. Yes, your score will shoot through the roof and your damage output is unrivalled for a short time, but while you spam you have to be clear of cover, and you can die in two to three hits from bosses.

Many classes can score colossal damage throughout whole matches with infinitely rechargeable powers, I hate to point the finger at the GI, TGI, AIU etc but they also have huge surviveability too, better mobility, xray vision, stim packs and repair matrix respectively..

agree, plus the char itself its a twik..

awful melee type that is easily dodgeable by enemies..
the cains are the only thing that saves the chars..
plus apart from the geometry problems..
the mines do not always get triggered by passing enemies..
most noticeable with Dragoons (cerberus mostly)

LOL on PC hardly anyone plays Talon Merc because of this key binding bug. Ain't gonna change till the end of the game if BW does not fix it so I don't see the problem here.

Or we could just stop throwing ideas around because the only thing Bioware CAN do at this point is nerf their damage. And they're balanced fine anyways. Spamming Cains to kill a couple bosses results in dead bosses and no Cains for a good long while, or using an ops pack. You can get similar results with other grenade classes, albeit a bit slower.

It's more like a scrub who farmed Golds with this build, until he got 0 Medi Gels and 0 Rockets.

So he'd go back to silver and spam that power but bother the good guys.

I'm not whining.

The community already gave me a lot of explanation about how Grenade powers are pretty effective.

But some agree with me, and believe that making the mines disappear instead of making them explode would be an interesting.

Being spammed at feets of the enemy isn't glamorous, as your recycled and oversized piece of art.

Yeah I agree. In the 1st place, the Talon Engineer wasn't in the lobby. He joined because someone left.
Then the disgust started.
Grenades from Krogans either Lift or Inferno, I don't mind, because they aren't ALL AROUND nades.
They have Shield or Barrier or Armor integrated bonuses. CTMs have all 3. Check Mechanic a bit under Multiplayer Discussion you'll see a power list with bonus brackets.

There's 3 Reckoning kits I don't bother seeing in Lobby. Cabal Vanguard, Collector Adept, Krogan Warlord
The rest, exotic wilderness ensues.

It's about the score a little of course.

Let's say a Silver game is 180,000 points max of enemies for example.

Well this guy managed to get all the fun and action that was meant to be shared.

For example, if he finished with 100,000, 50 Tech Kills Medal, 10 Melee Kills and no Weapon or Headshot Medals.
Well it's just clear that he's a scrub loving that power.
I don't mind him using it. I mind that it's flawed in someway. Too effective, at some point.

I don't mind Geth Infiltrators carrying a Silver/Gold group. Cause he's actually pressing different buttons and using alertedness and carefully aiming his Proxy Mine to affect the most enemy possible or one specificaly for debuff..

That Talon Engineer mostly pressed only 1 button to get this score.

What do you mean... The Bow with Arrow Powers is long range goodness.

We talking about people playing with Cain Trip Mines, casting them to enemies group mob.

The base dmg, one of the highest of all Grenades, has way too many effect on everything. Shields, Barriers and Armor.

Community's suggestion is to disable the 1st to explode when the fourth one is casted. So in that way, Trip Mine will own its title, instead of "Proximity Mine v2" or v3, if you consider the crappy Rank 6 evo of Sticky Grenade.

I support that idea.

It would require solid coding. The number of Mines is variable so don't code mainly on that. They should implement a condition where Mine Explose only from enemies stepping on. So it would set itself apart of the Proximity Mine mechanics.

I'm sorry Cain Mines was one thing, but complaining about Siege Pulse as well?
This sounds like nothing more than "stop using your powers, you're stealing all my kills!" <_<
