I'd really like to know if anyone on the Xbox or ps3 has gotten Leliana to do adequate damage with a bow and how they've achieved this? I was initially going to play the game with Alistair as my tank myself as a dw warrior Leliana as a dagger wielding rogue and morrigan BUT I read a guide that said that a rogue with a bow was the single deadliest class and I wanted Wynne at the expense of Alistair so I started over. My team is around level 15 and Leliana's damage is still stuck in the mid 20's even with the tier 7 Mage's Eye bow and 20 str, 34 dex, 19 cun . My pc who I turned into a tank on this run does around 48 damage with the tier 3 oathkeeper. My PC does have 42 str and 35 dex and I'm about to get him the topsiders honor . My pc had accounted for as much as 42% of my parties damage but Morrigan has began to assert herself. Even Wynne who is still primarily a healer has contributed more to my parties damage than Leliana.
On my next run I'm considering using myself as a dw warrior, Zeveran to unlock and as my assassin and stick with morrigan and wynne
Is there any hope with Leliana as a archer?

That seems like a pretty low cunning score to me. FOr Lelianna Cunning is a key stat for her bard songs and to do damage you need to pick up lethality and a long bow. You also need arrow of slaying.
What do you have as her second specialization?

Forget the strength stat for Leliana. Get her high on Dex and Cun (with some Con in there just in case), get the lethality skill, arrow of slaying, etc... She'll start hitting hard in no time.
And I love the ranger spec on Leliana. Big Poisonous Spiders are awesome!

Oh yeah, cun+dex+ranger=win. If you got a blood mage, the pets also help with blood drain? thing.

20 str, 34 dex and a LOT of cunning combined with the lethality skill is key to making a rogue archer deadly. On my first playthrough I made the same mistake you did and did not get lethality ending in a really crappy archer as my pc. Once you have 34 dexterity begin to take 2 cunning 1 dex every level to make the most of leliana. Cunning increases armor penetration as well so it makes her deal more damage to armored targets.

Archers generally don't scale very well with the other classes. Until they get top-tier abilities (Arrow of Slaying and Scattershot), their effectiveness is going to lag.

Archers are average at first. Once you get Arrow of Slaying, Master Archer, and Lethality, you will be doing huge damage, with AoS and Critical Shot. Shattering Shot is great too.
Go Ranger/Bard, and go max cunning (with 30 dex for AoS).

I have a level 18 Leliana with Marjolaine's Recursive, Long Sight helm and pumped up DEX and CUN. High CUN w/Lethality really helped with damage output. She does 35-55 damage and I had an Arrow of Slaying top out at 247 so far.

I had her do over 400dmg w/ Arrow of Slaying. So yeah, I think she can be a good archer.

Don't put another point into STR--20 is enough to wear the best light armor. Leave off putting points into DEX for now--she's got enough to get most, if not all, the arrow talents you need at this point. Pump CUN single-mindedly for awhile. Give her equipment that gives bonuses to CUN. Chat her up--she gets bonuses to CUN as you gain approval with her. Do her personal quest--you'll get an excellent bow for her. In the meantime, give her a bow with Rapid Aim on it--all Dalish longbows have this, or Falon Din's Reach if you've picked it up during the quest in the Brecilian ruins. Do NOT use the Rapid Shot sustained talent. Not only does this not stack with Rapid Aim, but you can't crit while this mode is active, either. Leliana's tactics automatically cause her to use this, so change them if you haven't already. The Dalish merchant sells a (very cheap!) belt that will boost her ranged crit rate.
Get Lethality ASAP if you don't have it, Arrow of Slaying and Scattershot, and Song of Courage. As long as she has Melee Archer (always the first talent I give any dedicated archer) she can work her way up to Master Archer at her leisure, after you've gotten her the talents she needs more immediately.
Good luck!

I have no intention of raising her str any farther as I primarily raised it to 20 to get "The Long Sight". Looking up armor I have come up with a question though. Would the rapid aim from her quest bow and the fast aim from the armsman's tensioner stack? If it does would the increased weapon speed and +6 attack make it a better helm for her than the +5% ranged crit chance from "The Long Sight"? Is there a better chest piece that doesn't require dlc content than "The felon's coat"? Would haste stack with both making her a destroying machine?
I will start focusing purely on her cunning immediately. According to the guide I looked at I had foresaken that being less worried about her bard talents and more about dex increasing her weapon damage. I don't have suppressing fire or scattershot yet but I do have arrow of slaying. In two levels I will be able to get lethality and after that I'll pick up the last two archery talents.
My second specialization is ranger but I read somewhere that if the pet kills the mob solo that the party doesn't get experience for it so I haven't used her wolf in a while. Is song of courage worth investing in? If not then after I get the last two archerty talents I'll invest in ranger and get the last two animals and maybe the mastery.
Thanks everyone for all their help. I've done a rather crappy job of organizing my team but my pc is strong enough that he can't be stopped by most mobs 1 on 1 or 3 on 1 for Leliana's personal quest. Next time I'll have to put a lot more thought in what each person will do.
