Why not pixel "nude" models rather than force them to dress in underwear?

I have yet to meet a child that freaks out at the image of a naked person.
... unless it is of course a horribly ugly naked person xD
Our world is ruled by sentimental old nannies living in their own fictional fantasy world *sigh*

Maybe have characters wearing the default sexytime undies and put out a optional dlc unlock code behind an agegate to get the "real" version with proper naked characters? Hidden option in a .cfg file or something. The romance scenes are very popular and could be even more so if done "correctly" and didn't have the silly underwear in the shower and stuff.

There has to be some middle ground here. As a bunch of artists, I could see how they could wish to use naked bodies to express a scene or what have you. But as a game company you want to make the most sales.
The thing is though, there really isn't a middle ground. You either have romance scenes with nudity, or you don't. Having "fade to black" sequences isn't really a middle ground. It's a solution of sorts, but it's simply only cutting the scene before anything happens, making it really just a make-out scene. What I don't get is if Bioware is against having anything too racy, then why would you add any kind of sexual animation in the first place (Origins). The only thing that did was make the whole sexual aspect pretty lame and immature. The only way you're really going to end this debate is to bite the bullet and put the M in Mature and take the lashings, or kill the sexual themes aspect altogether. Personally I have nothing against nudity in any fashion, whether it's gaming or television programs, people honestly need to relax about it, but in the end I understand it's their opinion. If Bioware really is hell bent on adding "sex scenes", then maybe they should consider adding a nude option in the settings. Along the lines of "hide helmet", or something? That way everyone wins? I know that would cost more resources and time, but it would solve the issue both ways.
I only really pursue romance in the first place because it adds character, and an overall more personal touch to the game, and simply more content. I like to get as much from my games as possible.

Why are people arguing nudity in this thread? OP didn't advertise nudity, he advertised having the characters be censored SIMS-style. Which would look just stupid in a Fantasy game.
Also, equipable underwear, possibly with enchantments. Come on, guys. Am I the only one who finds that ridiculous?
Sigh, I'm the only one who read OP's post, ain't I?

Unfortunetly, its the biggest market for selling games. So yes, in that respect I miss the creation kit.
Different versions for different continents would be a solution but they will never go for that. But then again will it matter DA2 was written relation wise for kiddies, so immature compaired with DAO. That irked me to no end and maybe it would be best to get rid of the romance allthogeter if its written for 14 year olds.
The dark world of an inquisition with romance written for young teens, I cringe by the idea.

Except that the NRA wants to have an excuse not to do that here, so they have to blame video games. The fact that its really not Bioware's or Rockstar's or Bethesda's fault isn't really relevant to their political desires.

If you want a convincing sex scene you have to redo animations from scratch because most of the motion capture available in the market is NOT made for sexy bits. So the best animations you have are hugs and some kisses, nothing even remotely "sexual".
Just look at EDI, Brood Mothers or Banshees. Sure you see the ****** and the nipple but they are not animated. As real as a barbie doll you paint some black dots on it.
And we are only talking about females here. Animating males for a sex scene would add a whole new kettle of fish (or a single eel, if you get my drift
I'd rather Bioware and EA spend their money and resources on other areas of the game, and anyone who wants to see explicit sex goes to the 1 billion hentai / pr0n web sites that do it for free on the net. You guys heard there is free pr0n on the net, havent't you ?

Yeah... That makes sense, actually. The U.S is their main market base, and they don't want the U.S's usual overreation to nudity to bite them in the ass. That Fox News scandal really scared them away from nudity. If they didn't care about the U.S market base, they probably would have put in at least female nipples by this point.

Not that I think Bioware actually has a desire to show their characters in the nude.
