Might want to change the title a bit, OP, it doesn't reflect your post very well.
You disagree with the notion that FemShep was a waste of resources (and I agree), but your thread title comes across as claiming FemShep was a waste of resources. That's where you should consider the change.
I think most of us picked up on the sarcasm in the title, and were just responding to what OP is talking about.

Also, those who haven't played a FemShep are really missing out on some great performances by Jennifer Hale.

And had they not 'wasted' resources on a Shepard that was customizable, I doubt I would have played the original game more than once, and probably would have skipped the sequels.

Honestly I'm indifferent. I could care less if I'm playing as a male or a female. As long as I have a good memorable time with a game. However, the option to play either is nice, but it doesn't effect me. I've been gaming my whole life and I don't care about diminutive things like what gender the character is.
Just enjoy the story and gameplay and move on.
Except that I can't enjoy the story with Mark Meer....so there's that.
Good for you. Not being snarky. I wish I could but he just sounds bored to tears.
Quite glad to have the Hale option.
I do have to say though, even though I have completely enjoyed Hale's voice acting all the way through. Going back and playing ME2 now after just having played ME3 something seems lacking there. There is so much passion in the voice acting in ME3 for her that isn't there in ME2.
I don't disagree. She did kind od oddly flatten out her delivery at a lot of points. I just chalked it up to her having just been resurrected.

I guess the same could be said for the other way around. I haven't played ManShep at all. I don't doubt for a second that Meer puts in a good performance as well I just can't get in to RPing a male character.

I for one can't stand Hale as Shepard. Tried it but I just prefer Meer's voice. This doesn't make Hale a bad voice actor, in fact, I love Jennifer Hale and a lot of the work she has done.
And trying to view it from a neutral standpoint for just a second, the fact that Meer vs. Hale comes down to purely preference would indicate neither one did a fantastic job as Shepard, but they were good enough, hence the choice.

Oh dear. I think some need to learn that a minority that shouldn't[/i] be catered to is around 1%. Yes, 18% is definitely a minority, but it's a substantial enough minority that if you discard those people, you're losing a substantial chunk of profit.
I'm a little surprised how little love there is for Tali, Ashley and Kaidan. I knew the VS were unpopular due to their suspicions and the stand-off. I saw someone quote a statement from Patrick Weekes how Tali almost didn't make it into the ME3 squad. I wonder why the VS were included at all. You probably can't include one without the other which would explain why Kaidan (wow, 1,5% is lower than I would have expected) was still there. Or maybe there is context.
And what the hell does survival rate mean?.

lol yeah oddly enough thats how I've been viewing it as well. There's a huge difference though really in her delivery in ME2 then ME3.. ME3 she has it nailed perfectly.

Is that full playthroughs or partial because even though most of my playthroughs are as male Shepard, I do have one or two as female Shepard.IllusiveManJr wrote...
So with the recently released infographic (Can't link from my phone, sorry) detailing that 18% of people played as FemShep, there's been talk of FemShep being a waste of Bioware's resources/time.
I disagree, I admit I have two FemShep characters and only played both to Sanctum. But I am thankful to Bioware for including the option to play as FemShep. It was a different experience and she was pretty kick***. So hopefully the next ME installment will include gender option for main character, or possibly even more otions (playable Asar, Salarianc, etc. or something). Good job Bioware.
Sorry for any bad English.

First wasn't solely directed at anyone else besides OP and second way to go on assuming that I said there was anything wrong. I was just curious why the OP didn't like Hale and wanted to know why in particular. Wasn't implying anything or saying anything else otherwise. (This is one reason why I hate text since it can get misunderstood so easily. Also thank you for explaining why you like or dislike one or the other either way.)redBadger14 wrote...

As far as was it worth it. The recurring female buyers who have played all three games that probably wouldn't have if no femshep was offered I'm sure made it worthwhile.

I believe it's squadmates in order of use. I imagine the VS and Tali are so low because you don't get access to them until over half way through the game.

I'm sure so me of it has to do with how late you get them in the game. Much more opportunity to use the others.

If that is true (which I believe it is since it sounds like the best cause behind it) then that is a really bad way of getting statistics for the characters since it is not balanced for all of them due ot the restrictions and time settings.DoomHK wrote...
