Only difference is, one has boobs that can be wrapped in bacon, and the other does not. That is the extent of the discrepancy.

If your comment was at the OP, he is actually disagreeing with those who say that Femshep was a waste of resources.  You been nabbed by the thread post hyperbole!  Yeah, I would have titled the thread differently, too...

Hmmm, if I imagine femshep's boobs wrapped in bacon, maybe it'll distract me enough to actually finish a playthrough with her:huh:

let me correct you, when I went to the dragon age event Thedas uk, mostly females that were presant, you would be suprised how many female gamers there are out there, more and more of the female gender are being involed in the game'n community.

So because you saw some females at an event that means males do not dominate the market?
How does that make any sense in your head? hah

Are you talking about the Jacob romance?

Thane.

Ah, yes. I thought the death scene (Bedside) was very well done. For the most part I didn't feel the romance was as mangled as others felt it to be. But I wasn't as invested either.

I can't speak for others, but to me his conversations in Huerta were lacking, and the fact that nobody mentions him after he dies was extremely frustrating. At Citadel DLC fixed as least one of those problems.

My canon playthrough is Paragon Soldier BroShep, and I've only finished ME3 once. That must make me a total casual player! Any opinion I have can safely be ignored!

So with the recently released infographic (Can't link from my phone, sorry) detailing that 18% of people played as FemShep, there's been talk of FemShep being a waste of Bioware's resources/time.

I disagree, I admit I have two FemShep characters and only played both to Sanctum. But I am thankful to Bioware for including the option to play as FemShep. It was a different experience and she was pretty kick***. So hopefully the next ME installment will include gender option for main character, or possibly even more otions (playable Asar, Salarianc, etc. or something). Good job Bioware.

Sorry for any bad English.

I definitely do not consider it a waste of resources.  Her availability is the only reason I bought the game initially.  I currently have multiple FemSheps for every class an only Scottson of the Vanguard for the MascShep.  I think the voice talent for FemShep sounds better and more natural as well.  Props to the voice talent for MascShep for having a very sexy voice but he is kind of stiff and Brad-Pitt-Interview-With-A-Vampire-buringing-plantation-scene in a number of the scenes where his delivery is concerned.

Well if we're basing all of this on %s;

Posted Image

Making the final missions/quests in ME1, ME3, DAO and DA2 was equally pointless, as over half of the playing population never completed them.

Equally, I guess it's time to drop the Sentinel, Engineer and Adept classes too.

Plus they should have auto-dialogued people NOT shooting Mordin, and CURING the Genophage. The choices were aparently a waste of resources.

If you look at this chart about 60% of the players didn't finish ME3.

It is very probable that most of those gamers weren't that much into the series and just startet the game with default male settings.

Now from the 40+% of the remaining gamers for wich a game like ME3 might have replay value etc almost every second one at least tried Femshep. (just like I tride maleshep once)

Edit: And befor you say 40<60:
While this is true you can expect most people that buy DLC, preorder(=buy at full price) and also bought ME1+2 (long term customers) are in the 40% group.

For me the scene with the Star Child is so much better with fem-shep. Bro-shep sucks at emotion while fem-shep nails it.

1. The scene with holokid is terribad whoever performs it. Emotions don't matter if your character spews out abject nonsense.

2. This kind of partizan opinions turned me off playing femShep completely.

Glad they wasted the resources then.

I have yet to complete any version of ME with a male Shepard.

But then they also wasted resources putting in that dumb Engineer class, so that worked out for me too.

Hey now.

ME2 and ME3 Engies rock.

I know, that is why I play them.  I should have included a /sarc tag.

Forgive the off topic, but really, everytime i see this old Meer vs Hale argument i can't avoid laughing, and then think you people have no idea.

Is not a stab at preferences, but believe me, you have no idea how good you have it.
I'm italian, the localization is beyond terrible, and i'm never been as happy to be a PC player, so i am not locked with it like on consoles.
Seriously, try it if you can. Then you'll realize the worse VA in the Whole trilogy is Sean Connery compared to what we have here.

Oh IMJ, you've done it again.

Good thread though, your bagging them by the truckloads.
Reminds me of my PVP thread.

Why do people keep insisting that MShep is the "default" when the game offers a gender choice right when you start a new game?

Its not like the game choose MShep for you...

Many, if not most, of the FemShep fans were women who loved having a strong female protagonist to play. They were diehard fans who bought all three games. How many would have been that devoted if only ManShep was available? I would call FemShep 18% of sales that Bioware would not have had without her, multiplied by three games. And how many went on to give Dragon Age a try?

Calling FemShep a waste of resources is narrow-minded and short-sighted.

if Bioware didn't make a femshep, I would've lost all interest in the franchise a long time ago, and wouldn't have even A FRACTION of the respect I have for the story, the project, and above all, the company.

Because he's the only one who got a default face modeled after a superstar? I mean, the fact he had the only face that looked great in ME1, is one of the main reasons I picked him.

Despite playing both in 1 and 2, I only played femshep through ME3.

If it was <1% playing femshep, then there might be some point, but 18% of however many millions is a significant number of people.

It would be so dull with only the stereotypical maleshep to play as (ok I like maleshep too, but that's beside the point.

That's fine, but its not really what the word "default" means to me.
