I certainly wouldn't place blame for this problem on the user, but this isn't a widespread problem that is affecting everyone. In a game like this, the best thing to do is save often, not only because of crashes, but because of encounters you didn't mean to trigger yet, plot decisions you made before you fully understood the consequences of them, etc.
I sincerely apologize that the game crashed and you lost your progress. We tested the game rigorously, but there are so many variables in terms of system specs, as well as branching paths within the game itself, that it is difficult, if not impossible, to account for every single possible occurrence of a crash or a bug on a different hardware and driver configuration.
Please be patient and submit your questions or suggestions, and we will work to incorporate them into future patches, when applicable. Again, I apologize for any duress this issue has caused you.
Trapped!

lionsfan he is exaggerating pretty much. Never seen a 4 min load time or anything close. 30 seconds tops for me. Also I have yet to encounter a bug in the game. I find it hard to believe that this guy has been gaming since 1980, comes off as supremely immature to be of that age. I also doubt he is reviewing the game unless its for his group of friends video game club or whatever.

I have 5 save games I switch between as a rule when playing games. And try to save once every 20 minutes or before fights. In case if the game screws up or if I make some really bad decisions, I can choose how far back in the game i want to go back if I like to. I dont even think about it any more, it pure reflex to save every 20 minutes or before/after something important happens in the game.
Its good to have multiple savegames because sometimes the save can be weird too. I remember one time when I didnt follow this rule(wasnt a rpg, was playing a fps I think) and I saved 2 seconds before my character died ingame, and I could not do anything about it. Every time I loaded he died and with no other saves I was screwed.

Oh, that's rich. Gamers have been screwed over so hard that they now find it acceptable. Question: when they delayed the PC version of Dragon Age for a few months, you might think stability might have improved.
I miss the days of external beta testing.
As for "saving often", how often? Every 10 minutes? Every 5 minutes? Every minute? At what point do I play the game?
I've been playing computer games since 1980. I suspect I've been gaming longer than you've been alive. I know how to play games. How to save. How to back up.
you don't seem play more games than I had tho :|

As far as I can tell you have encountered one bug. And it's so galacticly random, that a million days of beta testing probably would have made **** all difference.
I save at least every 5 minutes on rpg's, I know that's allot, for me it's become a second nature, truth is a million things could lead to having to reload an older save. Like dying in the game, a power outage, a bug, you ****ing something up in your talents/skills, you simply wanted to see what happened if you killed everyone in town. ect.
I've always seen it stated in every rpg forum that like the first 10 rules of playing an rpg is saving often, hell I even know games where "save often" is a tooltip in the loadscreens (Risen).
As for finding bugs acceptable, yeah, a certain level of glitches is unavoidable in any software, same goes for games and I for one much rather just have a laugh, reload a save and continue my game than be a dick about it.

Hmm. both sides have their true point.
Just remember my SNES times where i couldnt save always and still beat the RPG's.
That with 8 months of extra QA-time their should be no bugs at all seems obvious; maybe OP just had bad luck( my PC magazine gave a minus because of Bugs.. so maybe its given critic).
I also dont like the idea of saving much... but it would be ok.
Remember to load screen in BG2? "save often"?
Its good advice and the dev even said it. But then you should make Quicksaves fitting to this.
In witcher one quicksave didnt overwrite the older one, so you had the history...
Spamming is lol, but a consistency of 5 active quicksaves would have been an option that fits
to the "save often"- mentality.

also, if you want to know how often to save your game, plz use your head...decide on your own plz....
for example, you wouldn't want to save after a purchase in a store, or walking, or killing a small mobs, just not very intelligent...save when you need to or feel like you gonna screw up, simple as that ~.~

Ive been playing this on the PS3 and have not run into any 4 minute loading times. My loading times are between 10-20 seconds, sometimes being a little longer depending on the area. As for your issue dude the game autosaves like everytime you enter/leave an area. I would have to agree with most the above posters. Always save often. Always. Ive got one character and around 20 seperate saves and that number will continue to grow until ive completed the game with this character. Excessive? Yes, but at least i know if something does go FUBAR ill beable to back myself up.
Honestly i dont see what you want from BioWare. Ive yet to encounter any bugs, and unless your on the PC version i dont see anyway for them to help you. Either restore a earlier save or continue being stuck. If your on the PC side they might have a dev console hidden somewhere in the game.

I don't care if you've played for longer than I've been alive, you should still accept the fact that saving often is a good idea. Like Errel said, you might just as well have died and be in the exact same situation. At least for me, quicksaving has become an automation in most games. I don't even notice it anymore. I have absolutely no idea where my last save is when I have to load.
And you don't have to have many saves because of bugged software, you should have many saves because no software and no hardware is ever a 100% reliable. And you might die in game. I learned to always have 2 saved games when I played RPGs on Playstation 1. I heard of someones memory card dropping, corrupting a save file. It eventually happened to me too, and boy was I happy I was already keeping several saves.
Don't get me wrong, I know it's annoying. Similar **** has happened to me. I lost a 34 level Sorceror in Diablo, and I was playing multiplayer, so backups of characters were harder to make. I never did it and lost a character and ****loads of great items. I know how it feels.

It sucks to have a glitch ruin your game but I'm surprised this is the first time you've ever run into a problem if you only maintain a single save game.

Spoiler warnings would be a good thing, Mod needs to warn or move the thread. Some people are sensitive to spoilers.
