LZ etiquette

in a recent match all three of the other people in the game went to the LZ immediately as i ran to the opposite end of the map. they didn't seem like bad players... but there they were.
so, when people start to die... the renegade in me tells me to ignore them and get a missle ready so i can clear the LZ at the last second and extract... the paragon in me tells me to revive them, and do my best to hold the line with them.
even if people are using a mic, they just don't seem to get it.
paragon or renegade?

Depends on the map really. On Giant for instance I might consider helping defend the LZ,while on say Ghost or Hydra I won't, because that's suicide.

Exactly my plan. Exceptions being friends (usually with a comment of "so, how's the LZ these days?") and noobs that I've adopted (without their knowledge) and that I'm trying to keep alive at all costs.HOWLER_77 wrote...

I just quietly say into my mic: Get the h#ll away from the LZ. But sometimes I just sigh and go help wondering how many consumables it'll cost me.

If I have my mic on and they run to the LZ, I warn them about why that's a bad idea and they should come hang out with me. Most tend to follow my advice (it's never an order, just a, "Hey, you might wanna..." laid back approach). Those who don't, die and find out the hard way.
If I don't have my mic on, it's fascinating to watch who figures it out and who doesn't. Perfect example was a newbie Silver game from hell yesterday. I was working on my last few melee points for Dog of War, so I slapped my Krolord into a Silver Quick Match and landed in a room set for Rio/Reapers and three folks with incredibly low N7's. I'm talking sub-50 here. I readied up because I figured I'd get my melee points knocked out in absolutely no time (I was right).
I revived them as much as I could, but I ended up soloing almost all the waves alone. Come extraction time, two of them beelined to the LZ. A Turian Sentinel (oh, irony) who had spent the majority of the match on his face watching me from spectator mode literally turned his character to face mine as if asking what to do. I looked at him, headbutted, and walked in the opposite direction from the LZ. He followed. I then got greedy on husk melees and ended up with SURPRISE-BANSHEE-SYNC-KILL in my face with almost no warning, so I totally failed extraction. But Mr. Newbie Turian Sentinel stayed hung back like I had silently communicated to him, then he dashed to the LZ at the last second and got Lone Survivor.
I was proud of him. He learned a few things that match... good on him.

If they have been a good team, and they are getting killed I will go in there and make sure they live through extraction. In other words, if they have been paragon, I will be paragon.
If they play renegade style, I will do the gangnam style on their graves while I solo extract.

I like to arrive in the last seconds and pull a Jesus, and save everybody!

Ha!
On Gold, I ain't going to LZ til the clock says 20, and I'm running straight there with rockets out in case I run into a wall of bosses.
If it's bronze or silver, it's doable. I played a silver yesterday where we got to LZ at 10 seconds left and didn't see an enemy the rest of the countdown.

1. as you are there too, they would think that being at the LZ is ok
2. as you may save the day for them, they will not learn their mistake
So, for a paragon purpose (help them) you should choose the renegade and let them experience what happen when thy try to bunker down at the LZ.

that makes sense... hate letting people bleed out though.

We play again and when Wave 11 comes around once again they try to hold it down. This time I knew better and burned out on them. Another guy also had the same idea. Around 40s in the guys at the LZ are dead. The other lone wolf goes down too right by me
I had a choice- do the Paragon thing and try to revive this dude or extract. I choose extract and used a missile to clear the LZ to make an easy extraction. I really needed the extraction for a challenge so couldnt risk failure again

Mostly Paragon. It depends what I'm using.
There are many, many occasions (so silly, but true...) when I'm using my Shadow (or Drell Assassin) that I'll run to the defensible position on the map, if I'm unmic'd in PuGs. The other three will try to hold the LZ. They'll all go down. I'll run in, revive them all, and then run back to my defensive position, vainly hoping they'll do the same. They don't, they go down, and I run back in to revive all three of them. This cycle will sometimes repeat 4 or more times (depending on the size of the map.)
It almost always ends with full extraction, which I find quite funny.
If I'm using a slower class, though, it's 50/50. I'll either try and hold the line with them, if I'm tanky enough, or I'll leave 'em to die. I don't like leaving anyone to die, I'd almost rather not extract, myself, but sometimes ya just gotta'.
