I love the games you produce Bioware, but I have been burned too many times lately, and twice by you (ME3 and DA2).  There's no need to rehash the issues with DA2, I think we all know what they are.  I want to love DA:I, and I'm eager for it to come out.  But I know who your publisher is.

This is a plea for sense, and respect for the consumer, and respect for yourselves!  Please, please do not release DA:I until it's ready!  Please, please do not cut corners!  If you do it right, people like myself will buy the game at full price and all DLCs!  Only if it's done right.  If it comes out runny and undercooked, I will wait until it's a bargain and I'm unlikely to buy any additional content.  I never bought the DA2 DLCs for that reason.

Respectfully and sincerely,

Brett C.

This video posted by Meltemph is actually a bit more relevant than the above video:

And that is the essence of the problem!  A good game can't be rushed.

Saw that vid as well, good watch. On the one side I hope some of the big publishers will fall soon to show them these kinds of practices are disgusting. Sadly the majority of gamers seem quite stupid and will happily be cheated every step of the way by these corporations if it means they can play their next game. I mean seriously.... wait a week or two before buying a game and that'll stop many of the disgusting business practices in this industry. No more crappy rushed games, no more broken promises, no more 'professional' reviewers lying in their reviews just to make people buy the game etc...

No pre order for me either. If the game is good then it will still be there a few weeks after launch and I will get it then. If not then that's 50 bucks saved. If it has day one dlc that comes at extra cost and is blatantly cut from the game like they did with ME3 then I feel inclined to wait until a price drop instead.

Agreed! And with digital downloads there is absolutely NO incentive to pre-order! Besides excitement, I suppose. Pre-ordering is useful only for brick and mortar purchases because they don't carry PC stock otherwise.

I think people are starting to wise up a little, which is why many companies offer little baubles to pre-order.

Decent vid, but if I was just judging the state of the video game industry by only focusing on EA, I can see the need for concern. However, with the end of the generation on the horizon, I've got a stack of great games sitting on my shelf waiting for me to play if and when I can find the time. Its easy to get upset if we just focus on all the negativity surrounding gaming, but when, at a personal level, I couldn't be happier, I'm going to support the games I enjoy and not give it a second thought. I've got more pressing issues that only I can control to get all worked up over.

I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude. I wasn't as disappointed as many others in DA2 (though it definitely wasn't as good as DAO) But ME3 buned me very badly. Atm, I'm thinking no-preorder, though my mind can still be changed.

I'm also fully willing to walk away if there's any sign of what I'd consider a deal-breaker. I'm not going to trust that "It's Bioware, maybe it won't be so bad"

I do wish gaming companies would stop churning out games like they are on an assembly line. They keep thinking people won't care as long as they HAVE the game, even if it is full of glitches and a shyt ending on top of it because "Hey we can just give them patches and DLC to cover it up."

I don't even know why games even have a deadline. It'll be out when its freaking ready to be out. It's not like people will just lose interest and not buy it simply because it's taking a while.

Nice vid. It's official, EA needs to die. But I did enjoy ME3 despite the ending, I also enjoyed DA2 despite the mistakes and I will buy the next DA game. Simply because I enjoy them. I'm not at boycott stage yet. But yeah EA and companies like them need to die. :?

Did someone hack your account? That's much too positive for you.

Wasn't this video in somebody else's post about how they were not going to buy DA3? I know I saw it on these forums quite recently. Perhaps elsewhere, but I know I saw it because I laughed out loud when I read "Is the Gaming Industry Crashing?"

No. It's not.

Go for you.

Personally I can go to any number of stores and pick up a video game long before it ever finishes downloading. It took 6 hours to download Infamous (a PS3 game) on my PS3 and I have no desire to go through that nightmare again.

I think it would be great if people didn't pre-order games at all, honestly. These aren't consoles, where only a limited amount are manufactuee and are going to be shipped in. Not many game store these days are going to not have a new game in stock. So all you are buying is the hype, or some promotional piece of DLC.

Of which if anyone buys said bits of shameless marketing hooks, don't blame anyone but yourself for being reeled in like a fish.

So no pre-order from me as well, regardless of how awesome-sauce a game looks. Then again, I'm not starting threads to declare this off the mountain tops either, so... there is that.

I won't Pre-order too.

But that's because Pre-orders always brought late after a game is released. I want to play the game as soon as possible!

You know entirely what I mean, but I also fully understand your point.  I get it, games are so complex these days, there will always be bugs.  And in terms of the content, sometimes it won't be fully polished, because there's a limit to how much money they have to invest.  No argument from me here.

I just want them to do their best to maintain an internal standard that they would and should be proud of.  And I would like the game to be consistent, all the way through.  Take ME, as an example.  First, no game breaking bugs at launch, so bravo!  Now, the level of polish and complexity of story throughout all three games is consistent.  That is, up until the final mission.  -------\\  Boom, drop off.  Not unlike the Hunger Games, it seemed as if they reached a certain point and someone put a gun to their head and said "Finish it now!"

Take SimCity, as another example.  Astounding, game breaking bugs abound.  A responsible company would have said we're not making the release date.  Give us another month, maybe two.  Bugs, ok.  Plethora of major bugs, not ok.  A deadline is one thing, but it has to be flexible.
