Incidentally, I remember reading somewhere that the majority of DA2's sales were preorders. Not sure if true, but it's pretty sad.
They where, It had very high hopes, because of DA:O.
We'll you know how that went.

We'll see, after about 6 months into release. Pending the reviews and in-store availability, and only then if one isn't required to log into some site (Origins) to play.

Prior to DA2 and ME3, Bioware games were my first investment, pre-ordering collector or limited editions. But ME3 gave me a bad taste in my mouth, and in order to show my disappointment, I won't pre-order a BW game for the first time of my gamer life.
I will take in consideration the first feed-back of the BSN regarding DA3 and the case maybe, I would buy it.

Not sure how it will go if it crashes. It could be really bad, damage the industry in a way that it never really recovers from. Or it could be really good, give the "shot in the arm" or "kick in the ass" that it needs to make publishers stop with the steadily increasing BS they've been doing, creating a cautionary tale to publishers about screwing their costumers over and will make sure that it never happens again. I really don't know which will happen.

I honestly feel like a gaming crash has been coming for the last 10 years. Nintendo does too, it's why they made the Wii and focused on the "Blue Ocean" strategy, to try to limit the damage.
Thanks for that bit on blue ocean strategy. I like to learn new things!

Note that the Wii U is NOT using that strategy. Blue ocean with the Wii was to bring in new consumers and gamers who thought gaming was too complex nowadays, and to disrupt the market and leave Sony and Microsoft off-balance. But with Wii U Nintendo is trying to get back some of the "hardcore" gamers their blue ocean lost them on. Wii U is back to focusing on the red ocean.

I have purchased Digital Downloads in the past and have been burned by every one that I have wanted to re-install but cannot for various reasons, mostly because they all require online authentication and are titles no longer supported by the publishers.
However, that does not prevent me from pre-ordering titles I am interested in. I'm not one who cannot wait to try a new release the instant it's available so I prefer to pre-order from brick and morter shops only.
Unlike some folks, I was not disappointed DA II or ME 3, I find them very enjoyable and have played them through multiple times, still playing them as a matter of fact. I am looking forward to DA: Inquisition, it will be interesting see where BioWare goes with this one, so yeas, I will pre-order.

Personally, I don't care for Digital Downloads. If it is not available CDDVDBlueRay, I simply won't buy at all. I still have games that I have purchased on 5.25" and 3.5" floppies that are in excellent condition ( I also have the hardware to run them as well).

I couldn't do that, for that long. Clutter drives me nuts, my mother always said you and your minimalist nature(I was told this at 8, lol). I seriously cannot deal with having that much stuff around me, minus some small specifics.
But as for pre-ording, I've yet to be burned on digital thing(Crosses Fingers), but As much as I enjoyed DA:O/A, I would say 60% of DA:II, (My huge let down of SWTOR)I still won't pre-order because of much of direction they've taken on their games of late & my major dislike of Origin. We shall see how it goes, I've said before I am actually one very few people who actually sticks to their guns & vote with my wallet(still don't own ME3).
