Lol I've seen that video, I'm watching INVADERONE's Adas video as well. Influx of noob Adas users incoming! But, they won't be running with lvl IV incendiary ammo.

How about this: You're not a bad player because you're incompetent on Gold. If you have squishy characters, beginner gear & weapons, they go a long way in helping you to adapt to the higher difficulties, and they may tell the story more than your ability to handle Gold.
Don't be embarrassed to play on Bronze or Silver until your manifest develops.
indeed. a little harder for new players though, as everyone around them has nearly all gear/maxed maifest. new players see the goodies and don't want to wait around for them..

But i think holding the rio LZ is easier than being at the far end if the map and trying to run through bottlenecked atlases, primes or brutes
Put two people at each catwalk and you should be able to kill everything that comes your way

almost all the new players seem to ignore consumables on gold. I send a text message on almost every lobby "gear?" To somebody that has no consumables. I'll play with guys with low level guns, but they got to put on some ammo or gun rails at least.
one guy with a mic said please don't kick me. I said put on at least some ammo, but he said he didn't have any, had been buying psp. Dude probably did not have any gel either. I just left. I told him I played silver for months before I had enough stuff for gold.

This was my problem, that's why I'm bringing it up. If someone had told me that better, stronger weapons were a few games away but to just be patient and play some bronze to get some credits to buy packs, I would've happily done it instead of getting my face blown off in several gold matches and wondering how everyone else was surviving so easily. I can only hope the new players we're writing this for actually find this forum and read up.

It's okay when it's one beginner with a novice manifest, we can easily compensate and carry them through Gold/ Platinum. I'm always happy to bring someone new into a higher difficulty, even if they're not quite ready. But it's when you have 3 other players who aren't ready. Looking to get carried? I don't know, but I just simply drop out the lobby now than spending half an hour plus, effectively soloing the game.

Don't play gold.
not helpful. they can play how they want
Well I am serious. I for one grow weary of literally 9/10 of my matches being ones that I need to solo. These new guys with no gear, no consumables, no idea how to play the game should simply not be playing in gold.
When I first started playing I did strictly bronze til level 10 then strictly silver for a month or two (I didn't play ME all that much). When I finally thought I could bring my strongest build into a gold I did. I then dabbled in gold matches for the next 2 weeks while still mostly doing silver before going strictly gold. Now I am good enough to solo any gold, with practically any character.
These newbies that rush right into gold will have a lot harder time adjusting to it. How can you learn the game when your dead all the time? even if you do get to watch somebody who is good in spectator.
A perfect example of this was 5 friends whom I introduced to this game. The first 3 I brought straight into gold matches with me so they could get credits. They aren't as bad as they were, but they are definitely silver level players and still die a lot. The other 2 friends I introduced wanted to only do bronze and silver at first because they frankly didn't enjoy watching me kill everything and having themselves dying every few seconds thus not even really playing the game. They are now far better than the other 3 and accomplish more in gold matches.
So I say again, my best advice to new players is to go through the bronze and silvers first.
My advice for newbies who have already been playing silvers for a little bit and want to make the jump to gold:
*Always have consumables and be ready to use them
*Always use equipment and gear, the best possible for whatever class you've chosen
*Stick with who you feel to be the best player(s) in the match
*If people are micced, ask questions!
*Use a character and set up you KNOW you can succeed with, save the experimenting for later when your a little better, or for silver matches.
Anyways I highly doubt these new players that could actually USE some of the advice posted here will actually visit these forums and find this thread.

Replace that advice with: Watch a flank. So many teams have been downed by one or two Geth Hunters or a lone Phantom sneaking in unopposed. It doesn't even matter if you can kill it or not, just stop the thing for a few seconds or make it dodge. Someone will notice your flailing attempts to help and peel away from the DPS-orgy to save you all some medigel.

sorry, but i kinda stopped reading after that. people can play the game how they want, if you're not good enough to carry them, maybe you shouldn't be playing gold? just saying
it winds me up a little when new players come into gold lobbies or set them up, but that's their prerogative. if i land in a lobby with new players, i'll play, complete the match in 20mins and hope they learn something based on my positioning, when i used rockets etc etc.
ryoldschool said he just leaves lobbies if they don't have gear (somewhere in this thread). why? help them through it and maybe they'll learn, which in turn means less of a "problem" for the more experienced player

Leaving is probably the best decision. I wouldn't say you should stay if you are already annoyed in the lobby. The same would have annoyed me a few months ago, but I don't care much about credits or consumables anymore. Anyway, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. Some people just enjoy putting others down more than they have any right to.

If thats as far as you read you shouldn't have responded. I thought my post was pretty well thought out, fair, and helpful.
Moreover, in the sentence you highlighted I mentioned that I already solo golds, so clearly am good enough for gold. Then you go on to say I shouldn't be playing gold if I am not good enough to carry teams? Hypocritical and frankly stupid.
I suggest you go back and read the FULL post that you responded to in that snide way. Might clear the air a bit.

Once you have an understanding of the maps, ammo boxes, choke points, then you should try Gold. Plan a slow moving route around each map, this will prevent you from being flanked. It will make the game a lot easier and more enjoyable for the newer player

Who pissed in your cornflakes? You make this thread and then reply in rude snide ways to the people who are honestly just giving their 2 cents.
Here is a tip for you: Don't be such a d1ck to people responding with honest and from what I see for the most part GOOD advice and tips pertaining to the thread that YOU made.
Holy smokes

But you probably played Silver in a different environment. Back when the rare pool was less than half of what it is now, Silver could reasonably fund an entire max-rare manifest. That's what I did. But Silver is no longer good enough. Not when there are many things in the rare pool that are actually, completely useless.
People who save up for 2 Silvers to get a Spectre Pack or 3 for a PSP only to get trolled by an Assault Rifle Thermal Scope, or a Martial Biotic Amp (something we Day 1-ers never had to deal with) have a right to be angry.

the "stopped reading" part was a joke, i did read what you posted. i agree that new players should start out on bronze and work their way up, but as i said earlier, a lot of people don't like to wait for new weapons and upgrades, so they play gold. this is completely fine as it's their game and they can do as they wish.
i also wasn't being snide or hypocritical in any way. infact i would like to know how you thought i was being hypocritical exactly, but pm me for that please

I like the fact there are more players attempting to play Gold, but it is also important to understand the layout of the various maps, there aren't that many. Until you have the layouts down, you should play a lower difficulty.

A buddy of mine does that with just about any game he gets. For example when COD black ops II came out with the new zombies. By the end of his first playing session he knew just about everything that needed to be known, all the little intricacies. He was able to learn this from just talking to other players, constantly asking questions, and running with them a few times.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, a lot of really good mass effect players love the game, and therefore love talking about it and teaching new players.

If I must stoop down to this level for only a second, at least I used correct punctuation and capitalization, a functional part of language skills.
To your point, there's a serious difference between trying to learn spawns based on the position of the players and simply watching the group's blind spot. One takes a half second of moving your mouse/control stick while you're not doing anything anyway, or taking a quick look down an unobserved hallway while you're safe. The other takes knowing where the enemies spawn in the first place and a series of inobvious spawn mechanics that are stated outright exactly nowhere but here, in a thread that only really exists in a few poster's signatures.
The enemies move once they spawn, and it doesn't matter where they came from if you check where they could show up and surprise you every once in a while.

Don't die.
Get the thing.
(Those apply to life in general, too.)
For less new Gold Players:
I improved a lot by playing with good players. I was dying too much, in the first week or two I made the jump, to learn anything, and I didn't improve until I started playing with experienced BSN teammates. Once I had a week of that under my belt, I went back to PuGing.
I learned how to handle almost anything Gold can throw at me (except Collectors) by PuGing. And yes, it's because there are mostly new players with weak manifests and low-level or no equipment. Playing with them was frustrating, but once I knew the basics, it forced me to play harder to pick up the slack.
I almost never wipe in Gold PuGs anymore, even if I have three new players with me (except Collectors.) So a healthy mix of both will teach you the skills to pay the bills.
