I personally could not take femshep seriously. I lol @ romancing Garrus. Garrus is supposed to be shepard's brother in arms not some bird on a monkey.
How is romancing Garrus any different from romancing Liara?

It's the percentage of people who played Soldier that scares me. That might make Bioware think the player base is made up of dudebros and create a Mass Effect call of duty hybrid for the next game, that freaks me the hell out.
I generally play as a female in games, but I never did like Femshep, something about her always felt off to me.
I'm not big on playing the straight up adept class, but I do love me some vanguard! Having the tech armor and a few biotics tossed in for good measure makes fora fun class to play. Plus dat lift grenade is great.

I'm male and I played as female shepard. Call me weirdo, but I feel more comfy playing with female characters in most games. i guess it's just in my psyche.
But I will say though, FemShep's voice acting is 10 times better than MaleShep's.

It's natural for male gamers to play male charecters. It just feels unatural playing a female charecter and romancing male or lesbien charecters. How can you roleplay something so diffeent than who you are?

Exactly! I could never have roleplayed a resurrected cyborg pushing people out of windows or shooting people in the foot and saving the galaxy from an ancient machine race if I didn't do that in real life as well...

It's pretty clear that FemShep has been more successful than Bioware actually expected, and the praise they've gotten because of her has to be a motivation, numbers aside.
And honestly, 20% is a chunk of your fans worth keeping. No female PC would mean a lot of lost sales, starting with mine.
