PS Users: Would you prefer DA3 be on both PS3 and PS4, or have Origins/DAII ported to PS4?

Personally I'd say go with both, maximize availability/experience.

Reason for this is because anybody who knows about the PS4 announcement knows it doesn't support Playstation 3 games or saves, which puts us Playstation users in a bind if Inquisition turns out to be next-gen.

Porting Origins and DAII to PS4 also gives opportunity for Bioware to fix some of DAII's issues, like the map re-use. Maybe even remaster the graphics. They could probably even release the games+DLCs together in a bundle package.

They should just remove the save import and make a canon, problem solved.

I highly doubt there would be a port of the game if Dragon Age: Inquisition is released for the next generation and not being released on current generation, they would incorporate some other way to include the choices if they do at all.

If they do decide to port the game to the new consoles, it probably would follow the same procedure that happened when they released other games to consoles that weren't planned for at release and that is the game won't change and they would include most of the released DLC for the game.

The "confirmation" is in the news that the system wont be able to play PS3 games.

If you cant play Origns and II, you cant make a save to import to Inquisition if it is on PS4.

Which is why I suggested porting Origins and DAII to PS4. That way you can get a save to import.

Wouldn't be the first time a previous gen game got a port to next-gen. God of War and Devil May Cry both got their PS2 games ported to PS3. And DMC even got an HD Remaster. And Final Fantasy X and X-2 are getting a remastered port to PS3 and 360 as well.

There are more effective ways to do imports than physically transferring the file. I think a checklist is still a better idea, the only problem being it may slightly spoil some things.

A checklist would be nice, but considering all of the variables in the games, it'd take awhile to fill out

But you know, considering that the PS4 is only recently announced, the next X-Box hasn't even been announced yet, and Dragon Age III has been in development since DAII production ended in late 2011, it's doubtful it's intended to be next-gen. Especially since their intended release date is late this year, according to what was said last year.

There wasn't many variables that passed from DA:O to DA2 (if I remember correctly about a dozen) and I can't see many more going to DA: I from Dragon Age 2.

I was wrong its 18 at least according to the wiki, but a lot of them seem to be nothing more then a codex entry.

Yeah but you don't know what choices from Origins will carry over to Dragon Age III though. Even if only 18 decisions made it into DAII, you cant know what is going to matter in the future.

Big decisions that didn't matter in DAII include the Anvil of the Void, the Dark Ritual, Orzammar's King, and whether or not you saved or Annulled the Circle at Kinloch Hold.

You really think BioWare is not capable of reading an old save file, extracting needed informations and building a new import file for DA:I?

I really dont understand where you see your problem, its like the easiest thing to do.

This one will still be on the old consoles. I feel DA already gotten enough flak without being a product used to force people to upgrade. It seems fitting if DA3 is made as a goodbye to the world we created so far. The next DA (if there is a next DA) will be on the new consoles and feature the ME2 comic way of making sure the big things get transferred properly. I feel that too much games that import each other saves in line is a programmer's nightmare (all those variables) and they are likely to just make a time jump of 40-50 years so only the big choices care any real weight in that world anymore. There is just too much import data to consider otherwise.

I'm always slightly taken aback at the level of support for this. I for one would hate it.

Would be nice to have both options. They should make DAI for both PS3 and PS4, then later on make origins, awakening, and DA2 imports to the PS4. Everyone wins :D

Hell no! I see you commented this same idea in a different thread. I don't know what's your beef with save imports, but I have to disagree with you completely.

Well... one option requires me to shell out for a new game.

The other option requires me to shell out for a new console and three games, two of which are ports of games I've already played several times.

Good golly gosh, this is a tricky one.

I definitely agree with you, but the last post in this thread before yours is 2 months old...
