I decided to reinstall ME 1, just for good ol' times sake. I dug out my product key, installed it, tracked down the patches (No easy task), all that fun stuff.

I go to play the game I've owned for 5 years, and it I get a pop up saying that I"ve reached my activation limit. Turns out that over the course of the past five years, between new hardware, HDD crashes, OS upgrades, reinstalls, etc. I've installed Mass Effect five times. In five years.

So I hop in line with EA's "live" chat. After 40 minutes of waiting "25-30 minutes" I get a new code for Bring Down the Sky. Whoo. He asks for proof of purchase for ME1, I provide the product key, and lo and behold, he means a receipt. From FIVE years ago. So I get to call EA's support line, which isn't open until the morning, and hopefully they can help me play a five year old game.

Are we still at the point where an install limit is necessary? After five years?! I can't be the only one that finds this crazy, right?

That is pretty nuts, yeah. :/

Wish I could help, I had to wait for an hour like you just to get BDtS working, kind of ridiculous that a free DLC requires activation in of itself.
