[WIP] Turn-Based Tactical Pen'n'Paper RP

So, well, where I live I'm in a local Pen'nPaper Roleplaying Club and a few Weeks ago I started to create a Mass Effect PnP RP.


Story takes Places about 100y after the Reaper Wars, based on a Paragon Shepard.
Otherwise People won't have the Opportunity to roll a Geth.
Also, Synthesis is out of Question because it's just what the Reapers want, etc, blah.

Anyways, the Leviathans are on a Stroll.
They have captured the Citadel, which ofc inhabits The Guardian's Spirit (Shepard) and are trying to
assuming control of the Relay Network.
The Council was forced to build a new Galactic Center (don't have a Name for that Station yet) and are trying
to more or less rebuilding the Citadel with it's Power to control the Relay before the Leviathans get their
Claws (?) on the Network.
Also, Cerberus is not dead as believed. The Remnants of Cerberus still got Reaper Tech and hid themselves
in the Attican Traverse, rebuilding what was destroyed during the Reaper Wars.
They are now the Faction, converting Lifeforms into Husks, Brutes, Banshees, etc.
Cerberus isn't anymore a pro-Human Organization. They're driven by a Goal unknown atm, still need to figure
out what it'd be.
The Terminus Systems are fully under Control of Omega and an Alliance of the Talons and the Blood Pack.
The Geth theirself started a Civil War, also need a Reason for that, too, but they're still a lot allied with the Quarian on Rannoch, ofc.

Each Character is a potential Spectre-Candidate, showing special Skills during early Military (?)-Training.
That Way it's much easier to get different Characters into one Team, since they were assigned for Mission regarding Spectre-Skills Capabilities.


And this is where I need Your help:
On Character-Creation a Player first chooses a Race, then he'll chooses a class (one of the six) and then a Profession out of the classes.
Like Quarian Engineer (Saboteur).
Each Profession brings three active Powers (each Character can have a Max of 10 Powers, from which 2 have to be passive Powers, coming with Race (Fitness) and Training (from the Job))

I need Ideas for Professions.



Also, Players will have to choose a Job for their Character.
Asari Commando, C-Sec Agent, N7/Alliance Soldier, STG Scientist, and so on, which will bring a passive Power compared to the passive Powers in Multiplayer that increases Power- and/or Weapon-Damage.

And there I also need some help: Need Ideas for various Jobs.


This would make My Job finishing the PnP much faster and I could go on continueing converting Weapons, Equip, Mods, etc. And continuing the Story, ofc.

One thing I would be weary of doing is the mistake that many MMOs have made over the years.

The first one being 'Its X years in the future and everything is different.' This generally leaves a bad taste in people's mouth. Furthermore, its not really necessary.

The first key goal with this Tabletop Game shouldn't be the story. Mass Effect already has a story, and lots of room to work with regards to story. Don't worry about defining this since the established canon story and various head canons can do this without you.

What you honestly need to do is hash out the nitty gritty details of the system itself. Is this to be a dice system such as the established D20, or D10, or D8, or D6 systems, or is this something entirely new?

You should focus on getting core principals down about the game and the roles you want the classes to fill in relation to the game itself. Worry about the fine details of what to call each later, if at all.

Focus on what does exist in universe at the moment, like weapons and powers that are currently used in ME3, and what roles they play and how they should be used in the game. What value does a shotgun have over a pistol, and a sniper rifle over an assault rifle? These sorts of questions should be important.

Frankly, if you'd like a fine base to set this up, you could simply go back to ME1 and take what they offer there as a starting point. Alot of that game was rooted in KoTOR, which was rooted in the Star Wars D20 RP (or at least felt like it since it shared many similarities with it and its D&D root). Consider that plus how things worked in ME1 as a base. All biotic abilities were measured in newtons, and all weapons were either burst or sustain. All tech powers were primarily buff/debuff utility, while biotics were mostly crowd control.

You can add more substance as you get a general concept running.

I've thought long enough about that with some People in our Club and we decided that it shouldn't take Place prior or during the Reaper Wars.
We wanted something new and some Room to put in own Ideas about Parts of the Story.

Dice Mechanics are also decided and how Test and Dmg are rolled on.
And 100y in the Past isn't much of a Difference Tech-wise, since a lot has been destroyed and
a lot has to be rebuild first.

I'm not entirely new to creating Stuff, created different Contents for some german PnPs.
And while it's called "Turn-Based Tactical" PnP it's no TableTop at all.
Battle Mechanics are also almost finished.

It's really just about Ideas for some more Professions and Jobs.
