I'm about to bring my final Shep (on the 360 anyway, I may still pick up the trilogy for the PS3) into ME2. I want to change her class from Soldier to either Vanguard or Adept. I've never done either class in ME2, just Soldier, Sentinel or Infiltrator. I strictly play on Casual, so the game difficulty shouldn't impact my class choice at all, just not sure which one to go with (thinking Vanguard and if I don't like it, starting over as an Adept).

This would in theory be what my skill levels would look like for each class by the time I hit level 30:

Vanguard:

Incendiary Ammo- Squad (10 pts)
Cryo Ammo- Lvl 1 (11 pts)
Charge- Area Charge (21 pts)
Shockwave- Improved (31 pts)
Pull- Lvl 3 (37 pts)
Assault Mastery- Champion (47 pts)
Slam- Lvl 2 (50 pts)

Adept:

Singularity- Lvl 3 (6 pts)
Pull- Lvl 2 (9 pts)
Shockwave- Improved (19 pts)
Warp- Lvl 3 (25 pts)
Throw- Lvl 3 (31 pts)
Biotic Mastery- Bastion (41 pts)
Warp Ammo- Squad (51 pts)

Since you are playing on Casual, you should have much of a problem with the Vanguard. The only thing I would comment on your proposed build is that Pull and Slam are too similar. I would recommend 1-point Slam as your bonus power until you get 1 point in Pull, then switch to Stasis (if you have already completed Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC).

Since it looks like you plan to use all your biotics, then I recommend:
4 - Inferno Ammo
0 - Cryo Ammo
4 - Area Charge (Area is good on lower difficulties like Casual. Otherwise go Heavy Charge)
4 - Improved Shockwave
4 - Pull Field
4 - Champion
1 - Stasis (Slam until you get points into Pull, then Stasis)

To level a Vanguard, I recommend the following strategy put forth by much better players than myself:
1) Max Charge
2) Max your passive
3) Max Incendiary to Inferno Ammo

From there, it does not really matter. I would then put points into Shockwave and then put 1 point into Pull. I would then max Shockwave and finish with Pull.

If you want to cast all your biotics sooner, then max Shockwave and Pull before dumping the rest of your points into Incendiary Ammo.

And to get the most of your Adept, I think the following build is considered the best Adept build. I know it certainly is my favorite Adept build:

4 - Heavy Warp
4 - Heavy Throw
4 - Heavy Singularity
4 - Pull Field
0 - Shockwave
4 - Bastion
1 - Stasis

Levelling advice:
1) Get Warp and Singularity to rank 2, then put 1 point into Throw and Pull.
2) Max your passive
3) Max Singularity
4) Max Warp or Pull (I recommend Pull), then max the other power.
5) Max Throw

Shockwave is still good, but I prefer the other Adept powers myself.

Thanks guys for the advice. The reason I was considering Adept is that when I've played ME3, I mainly play my Sentinels like Adepts (plus I like using Throw with my Sentinels).
