I'm working on breaking RedJohn's Glacier solo Gold record.

My class of choice is GI with Talon and here's the build.

Any recommendations?

I've done 1 successful solo. It was Bronze/Geth/Dagger with a Paladin Sentinel 6/5/6/3/6 with a Carnifex. I haven't attempted another since then; I enjoy playing team play more, and don't think I'm good enough to solo silver yet.

Keep practicing, it will come. There are plenty of guides and a ton of information that can help you complete this if you so desire.

I personally run Solo silvers to test all of my new builds. I'm working on Solo Mastery for the third time currently. I really want to solo Platinum soon. I have attempted three times now making it to wave eight on the last attempt. I'm so close. Image IPB

I've come a long way since I did that solo, but because I haven't tried since then, I probably just need to try my hand at it. I have more kits and much better weapons (although the Carnifex is still my best pistol outside of my Eagle IV) and more hours under my belt.

I still need to do my 2 gold solos for the lone wolf challenge. I'm trying decide the best set up but will likely go for something that has DoT or a mine (Cain most likely) so i know I'm doing damage even if I have to run.
In that case something like Huntress, Geth with flamer, Talon merc.

I've been having trouble with the objectives as the enemy seems to be able to get to me before I can finish hacks (which I always get!). For that reason I may go against Geth as they're generally slower and a map that it big but not too open. Giant is open but there aren't many long line-of-sights that cross the whole map.

At the moment I'm usually able to get to wave 8 or 9 before wiping.

If you can make it into the hack circle early on and take cover you can easily complete half of it before being over run. Make sure you leave your self an escape path, plan it out in your head as you take cover at the beginning of the hack. Pay close attention where the enemies are coming from and how many are within visual range.

         - Keep in mind, there can only be eight enemies active on the board at one time. If you can
only see six or seven, then the other one or two are still out there somewhere.

-If you kill an enemy, it will respawn immediately somewhere on the board. It will also be the same
enemy type that you just killed beings that there is an unlimited spawn budget during an objective
wave. There are exceptions for boss enemies as far as how many can spawn on Gold and lesser
difficulties on gold for example, the wave budget for Praetorians is limited to a total of six.

Once things become too hot the run out of the hack to the opposite corner of the map, drawing the enemy away from the hack while doing so. Make sure you don't kill any of them in the process, otherwise they will likely respawn near the objective and camp there.

-It is best to fire a few shots towards the enemy, and fall back. Fire a few more shots and fall back.
Basically, drawing the attention of all eight enemies and getting them to persue you away from the
objective. Use cover as much as necessary. Once you have drawn as many with you as possible,
run as fast as you can to the objective. Use the most indirect route as possible so they will take the
longest path possible in following you. Use choke points whenever possible to slow them down even
further. Recon mine is excellent for these objectives if you spec it to slow down scanned targets
while highlighting the enemies within range of the mine so long as it is active.

I hope this information will help you guys aspiring to solo Silver and higher. I appologize for hijacking the thread. Image IPB Image IPB

I need my two gold solos for both lone wolf and botb banner. Maybe I'll get around to it. I don't enjoy soloing very much.

I hated doing gold solos.  Took me over 20 tries to finally succeed.  EDI + Acolyte + incendiary Ammo on Giant did the trick.

Soloing is boring.

Also we learned that on the Pee-Cee mustard race, people with poopy computers have EZ-mode and more people hack their coalesced than you think. I never cared about people who solo before, and now I really don't.

What helped me become a capable soloer was understanding that I had to let the mobs chase me around the map and just pick where I wanted to fight them.  As soon as that position got overrun, I'd move to the next one and just keep going around the map, picking them off a couple at a time.

the only solos i have done are bronze matches, level 20 characters with gear but no equipment:

Salarian infiltrator with Collector Sniper rifle vs reapers on Dagger

Krogan soldier with claymore against reapers on glacier hazard

Krogan soldier with graal against cerberus on jade (didnt have any armour piercing so taking out guardians was a nightmare)

I can do silver duos fairly easily, i need to try a silver solo. I like big maps so i have room to run and hide. I find the 4 device deactivate a NIGHTMARE, not v good at kiting things away

Solos are too mainstream, I found plat duos are way more fun

I did my solos with my faithful Destroyer on Giant Hazard for the extra Grenades. I used a Harrier and Wraith. I knew of the other Easy Mode stuff, but it just felt right using my beloved Destroyer.

I was bored of them by the time I did Gold, my first Silver was really the most exciting one I ever did.

I have done Gold solos with my favorite kits but I usually only do it when i want to play a kit that requires hosting and I just open it public and start. If no one pops in, then I will try to solo it. But I am such a crutch player, the kits I can actually solo gold with are certainly not the ones that I have the most fun with.

Done gold twice, and I don't find it enjoyable. Don't see myself ever attempting plat.

Yes, solo'ing is terribly boring, but I MUST complete the Mass Effect achievement...  so lame. ;)

I did the 10 bronze solos on Firebase Glacier, Geth with a paladin build based on Invaderone's platinum build. Energy drain evolved for damage reduction against synthetics was perfect. I only used ops pack consumables a few time. No consumable equipment. I failed miserably trying to do the same on silver.

Got frustrated and went with Caineghis' Easy Mode Geth Trooper build to do Silver, Giant, Reapers (Thanks Caineghis!). In about 10 tries (with no warm up to get familiar with the build, and letting myself bleed out if taken down) I got 4 out of 5 of the extractions (this was using no consumables/equip except Geth Scanner, and a couple ops packs and missiles per game on average). I had a few wave 10 failures caused by Banshee warping out of nowhere and grabbing me, or me getting hung up on a piece of the environment and getting overrun or grabbed.

One more to go, and then gold. I'll probably use consumable equipment for it, and same build / location to get it done ASAP (for me at least), after first trying it naked.

I like it classic.

Kroguard 6/6/0/6/6, With Dark Lord Reegar at his Side.
Power Efficiency Module III
Shotgun Rail Amp III
Incendiary Rounds III

Only soloed Gold 2 times though, i don't really like that kind of gameplay, i'd still prefer having bad player than to solo completely.

My go to kit for soloing is the Fury. It's not as boring because you can get in the enemy's face rather than kite all the time. I normally use the Talon, but for platinum I use the Hurricane/Acolyte. It works very well, and I've been able to clear platinum in 34 minutes using that combo.
