Nice commentary by Megabeast and superb video editing. I'm tempted to re-spec but that would break my no shockwave, ES or BS rule.

Thanks. That's the first of my new series where I interview players with interesting and effective builds. More to come for sure:)

But Smash and Grenade spam is all fair and sporting right? Image IPB

Smash and grenades don't shake the screen.  :)  I hate it when someone spams shockwave, ES or BS next to me so I make it a point not to do the same.

I agree about things getting tense. I'm sick of people implying "All this build is, is all Geth Scanner/Biotic Slash all the time, completely forsaking Charge/PD." Their close-mindedness has gotten under my skin.

I dunno Mega, I think you've received a pretty good balance of open and close-minded responses in this thread. That's what you should be shooting for. I simply feel there's an unfortunate communal stigma in regards to the Slashes because of their ease of use, and so those who want nothing to do with them just don't want to be labeled "scrubs," "spammers," or what have you.

That's fair.

Cluster Grenades don't shake the screen? Image IPB

Pretty sure Lift Grenades shake the screen too... and Smash. In fact... Bosster was b1tching at me earlier b/c I was Smash shaking his screen...

TBH I had never noticed that.  You are right of course.  I started up some Dagger games and threw grenades at a wall in front of me and the screen did in fact shake.  It doesn't change my opinion though.  As the screen shake is due to the blast effect of nades, that would mean that you are standing in the middle of some enemies and the nades will be appreciated.  If you are merely standing next to the person throwing the nades, the screen will not shake.  On the other hand, shockwave ES and BS would shake the screen so long as the caster is next to you and you need not be in the middle of enemies which is quite a different situation.

Not sure about Smash since I don't play with enough Smashguards to know.

Hey mega, what would you say it's the best enemy for this build? I tested on reapers and I did OK, but i was wondering that perhaps some other enemy have better sinergy.

Very good build with excellent explanation of selections. Nice work beast.

Could you recommend another weapon for this loadout?

Maybe N7 Hurricane with ULM, Power Amp and Warp Ammo?

All of them really... but it shines most vs Cerberus and Geth since they have the most units you can OSK.

Hurricane is a good option.... so is Piranha, Wraith, etc. Just try to stay above 150% CD.

Its a good build. I started from lvl 1 and at lvl 19 now. The option for spamming biotic slash is there, but its really up to the player to decide of that's their style.

I personally love BS for just what the OP said, clearing out spawns or camps-that happen quite often BTW-.. I speced mine 6,3,6,5,6 took the two melee and shields in fitness so running with 750 heath.
I also took the N7 slayer weapon damage at 4 as I use my weapon allot as well in standoffs-like to use the M96
I melee more with this guy, simply because I love the sword and the N7 Shadow is my favorite so the melee transition is easy.

love PD , I love that its on its own cooldown, meaning I can PD and BC, BS right after

Just some tips MB gave me on how to use the Slayer on platinum effectively

megabeast37215 wrote...

Moar PD spam... and using it from right hand advantage more often. When it runs out... charge to refill then dodge back to your right hand advantage spot. Prioritize Phantoms/Infantry/Banshees/Primes... odds are you can kill them better than the majority of your team. Stay away from Atlases.

Damn, not this thread again...

Kids, don't listend to Mega.

He's been indoctrinated.

Vanguards don't hide. They either roflstomp things, or die trying.

You sound like a bunch of the other numbskulls in this thread Deerber.

I play him the same as the 6/6/0/6/6 build that everyone and their brother uses... but now I have the option to detonate massive BE's and be safe if I chose to AND be more productive from hack circles.

Don't be afraid of change...

Well you know, that is exactly what I do not want in a vanguard. I don't want to be safe. I want to be in the enemies' face. That's what vanguarding means to me.

But hey, it's just a matter of taste, not much more. My post was not to be taken that seriously, really. Thought the indocrinated thing would give that away :D

Fair enough.

Although you did cherry pick 7 words out of the whole post to harp on... what about the other points I made? What about how very little I gave up for those benefits? What about how doing so affects pretty much nothing and still allows for standard Slayer playstyle? Why would you want to limit yourself? Why wouldn't you want to be able to detonate 3 BEs with a single cast? Why wouldn't you want to be able to stagger enemies from inside the hack circle through walls to slow them down before reaching the hack... and in a weakened state no less? This applies to escorts too, but slightly less.

You and many others are stuck in the paradigm of only being able to see things one way... and granted, that way is very good. But with my build... you can still play that way, and have another heavy hitting option in your back pocket for when it's more suitable to NOT CHARGE! I thought the example of Collector spawns littered with Seeker Plagues was a fine example of when to NOT CHARGE personally.

Excellent and informative video.

I'll have to give that build a try, as you pointed out loosing 200 shield and 10% weapon damage is a small price to pay for another ability.

It's like electric slash on the shadow. Just cause some people who do nothing but spam it give it a bad name, doesn't mean it can't be part of a good build.

There are certainly other benefits, and you do give up very little for those.

The point is, I don't want those benefits, cause I don't have use for them.

Cause there is no occasion in which it's more suitable to NOT CHARGE, in my opinion and in the way I play him. A collector spawn littered with seeker plagues is not a problem at all. Not with dat dodge, at least. During a hack/escort I can still charge out of the circle and dodge back into it before the next tick of the progress clicks in, so I don't even lose time.

That said, it's a personal choice. I can perfectly see why you would like to make such a choice, and the benefits it brings to the table. It's just not my cup of tea ;)
