Why no mention of invincibility frames? I heard you are invincible for the first two light melees - then if you cancel before the third you can just PD or BC and light melee again while they recharge for a second.

I have always liked 3,6,6,5,6, call me insane for not picking the shield recharge on BC, but I only use it when its safe or necessary - I either teleport to safety or light melee a couple of times and then teleport to safety, or stun mooks with PD..
It doesn't work perfectly and I don't claim its better in any way - but its how I like it. I wanted something different from how I play my Novaguard, and Kroguard.

This is a great build megabeast, I've been playing it more than any other character since! I agree that geth gear makes BS a solid power now. It's funny to hide behind a wall (whilst observing the enemies location due to geth gear) then BS the spawn to 'soften it up' then unleash hell upon said spawn by spamming it with phase disrupter, charging into any survivors then hammering the final nail into the spawns coffin by spamming an increased power phase disruptor (due to charge) yet again! I find that the only time I ever even need to use another weapon apart from the acolyte is to tackle guardians. Thanks to the shield/barrier stripping abilities of the acolyte the armour evolution of phase disruptor is definitely the way to go. This build makes phantoms, dragoons and bombers a total joke! I also find BS a great tool to aid team mates in revivals, someone goes down, squad mate goes to assist and you can whack out a BS through the wall to stagger the enemy before they perform a stomp out or kill the player trying to revive! The only thing that hurts this build (as with all vanguards) is bloody LAG lol!

The build seems to work really well for me. I wish I could use the sword more often because it just seems so cool but overall I crank out a lot of damage in a small amount of time. Phase Disruptor might be one of my favourite abilities in the game and I actually run around shouting pew pew pew while using it.
Even a good build can't save this class off-host though. PD shoots slower than a no-legged turtle and charge sometimes doesn't work when you need it most. Still though, worth it overall.

You should really try the collector smg + acolyte with this build, it has unlimited ammo and when you use it with phase disruptor you never exhaust the clip because it refills in between the phase disruptor blasts and it keeps on repriming bigger targets

I've had a hard time with the Slayer's melee target tracking even on-host in that it seems to go right past his target sometimes and ends up taking a Maurauder's retaliation elbow to the face or whatever. Toss in an unresponsive charge and gimped long range boss killing ability with a sluggish PD and I don't think a melee build would work well off-host at all. Could be wrong though.
I've had some success playing the Cabal off-host with a melee build but again... poor target tracking. You sometimes just fly right past the guy you want.
