Surprising but they're already way into development so it's not like they don't have an abundance of material to show. So far everything has been self-funded, this should help them greatly. Turn-based combat really isn't my thing though but I'm looking forward to this for the story, dialogue, quests and the toolset it is shipping with. Perhaps this will be a worthy successor to Neverwinter Nights in the later regards.

Definite support, but I'm waiting for PayPal so it'll probably have to succeed first.

It looks pretty interesting. It still seems a bit generic at this point, so I'm totally on board yet. Creating your own story seems pretty awesome though.

Video of a dev creating a quest using the game editor.

Finally, another game that in the vein of NWN1/NWN2 with regards to player made modules? I hope so...

They started this game without kickstarter, knowing full well it would only appeal to a core audience. This is a prime example of a studio placing creativity over profit. It gets my support.

It's a prequel to them.

I'm definitely going to throw money at this when I can. Not right this minute, but hopefully before the deadline. It's rare to see a developer without massive publisher backing take a risk on a niche market these days. I agree that Larian deserves help for that alone. It can't be easy working in that awkward space between tiny indie studio and development juggernaut. I like what they've said about Original Sin's mechanics and co-op campaign too though. It has the makings of a fun little somewhat retro RPG. Makes this an easy call. :)

I never played the earlier isometric titles, but Divinity 2 was one of those titles I picked up on a whim and ended up having a blast with. Interesting world and fun story. I'll have to follow this one I think. :)

Divine Divinity is by far the best in the series.

Divine Divinity was better than Baldur's Gate, Fallout 1&2 and Planescape IMO. At least it certain areas. Customization could have been better though and the ending region was clearly rushed but in terms of dialogue, exploration, quests, openness, item/NPC interaction, DD triumphed.

Beyond Divinity was disappointing though and The Dragon Knight Saga (while good) wasn't anything on DD.

Asides from the turn-based combat and keywords, Original Sin has returned to Divinity's roots.

And this is a positive.  Forget about Divinity's roots, Sven it taking it back to the old school RPG roots.

He's said before that publishers forced real time on him with the previous Divinity games and now that he's free from them, he can actually make the game he always to make.

When Sven Vinke talks, the entire industry should listen.

I missed a lot of the earlier RPGs (was mainly a console player until I got a decent PC in 2003), and I regret that so much. I tried playing Baldur's Gate recently but found it a little hard to get into due to things like frustrating pathfinding and the like. I'm loving that Kickstarter is allowing things like this (plus Project Eternity and the like) to get a better chance to be made, it feels like I'm getting another chance to see what the rest of you have been going on about for years. ^_^

Vincke does make some good points, and Original Sin sounds promising. Guess now would be a good time to finally give Divine Divinity a try - it's been in my GOG library for quite a while, but I never played it.

Really want to do the $65 one but I won't have that money by then. I may have to settle for the $25 pledge instead.
