Then I certainly hope he'll be quick tomorrow - maybe he wants to get it done with so he can play it too :D

I, on the other hand, can download it when it's released, the problem is, I gotta learn for exams, so fu...ehem, damn it :D Will probably still download it to take a look ;)

That is odd. I tried to get my key last week on the KS page and it wouldn't let me. I'll browse the GoG forums, surely someone has brought it up. Also, has anyone heard the title music for this game? It's like a piece of symphonic music, just amazing:

Spoiler

Yeah, people on GOG already asked the question, but I guess it doesn't make any sense to have the page if the game gets unlocked at 8 PM anyway (or that's at least when it's supposed to be released on Steam, I guess).

The music is really nice, I really like Kirill =)

I was more amazaed at the fact that you couldn't pre-order it on GOG...

Yay, guess what wasn't in the mail today! :wizard:

I once tracked an Amazon delivery and the goods were sitting for 3 days in one spot, then they sent me a notice that I wasn't home (I was) at the time of delivery and I should go get it personally.

The mail always gets through.

Played an hour of it yesterday.

It feels like Baldur's Gate in some ways mixed with Divine Divinity and Neverwinter Nights but of course, it's completely unique in its own right (mainly by its combat and how interaction with the environment plays out with exploration and combat). Some soundtracks from Divine Divinity have been redone too for Original Sin and so I'm getting a strong Divine Divinity vibe often just by that.

I was wary of the turn based combat but I'm enjoying it now. There's quite a bit of strategy involved.

The companion dialogue and banter is pretty good too. Be sure to pick a default AI for your uncontrolled companion otherwise you'll be controlling their speech (so far it seems "Loyal" is the only one to choose, there should really be more as they had the game running in beta for a while but I can forgive Larian for that mistake and I'm sure more personalities will be patched in). The non-custom companions who exist in the world seem interesting. I recruited a source hunter named Madora who is retired and thus I currently have a party of three people.

I picked this up as well, but haven't gotten a chance to fire it up yet. Looks great!

Actually, three hours in and the game has now reminded me of why I hate turn based combat...

It's still more flexible and open than other turn based games however. The action-point system allows me to just about stomach it.

Everything else is great still.

I've been playing this game on co-op with my brother for a few hours now and we've done little else other than run around talking to people and accumulating "missions." We still haven't figured out what to do exactly.

Sounds like me. In the end, I decided to exit the town from the west way to smite some undead (who are LV3 in case you're wondering).

The most exciting moment so far was when we had a discussion on whether to rob a grave and we ended playing a very tough rock-paper-scissors' game that ended with him winning. So he dug... and the grave exploded and we died. :D

Because they can't market it to the consoles so they won't bother.

Can't help but think of the dancing KFC guy when a certain combat song plays so I made a video of him dancing to it...

Also, to save damaging my weapons from bashing open locked chests I use my fists. From this, I discovered that the knight class has a little combo attack that I can't help but laugh at and so I created this crappy little vid:

If you're not going through fighting like this then you're not playing the game as it should be.

Great to see you guys are enjoying the game! I have it installed too and will take a look!

They have older songs in the soundtrack because Kirill got really sick, so they needed to find a solution for that. I hope that when he recovers, he will record some new songs, would be really cool, I think!

I disagree two of my favorite games( Final Fantasy Tactics, X-Com) are turned based games I have both on my P3. Sure they are no Fallout, BG or Ice Wind Dale but I still enjoy playing the hell out of em.

Excellent RPG .. Hardcore RPG even. It's not for the casual. Slow paced, tactical, hard , No hand-holding

Jake is a running gag in the Divinity series. He first appeared in Divine Divinity in a side mission where you can dig his grave up leading to you having to kill him twice IIRC. He later appears in Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight saga now more powerful than ever, stating that even when Dragon Knight defeats him, he can never truly die and will return. It seems every protagonist has killed this guy then (not sure if he appears in Beyond Divinity though as I haven't played entirely through that one yet). Seems that Original Sin was the beginning of Jake's tale and origin as a zombie.

Six hours in and I'm still not liking the turn based combat or the lack of pause functionality for when exploring the environment. Sometimes my ranger spots a trap as we're running along and I can't stop them, so they practically run into it. A pause function would have saved me there or a way to instantly cancel movement would have done so too. Another annoying thing is when selecting an enemy/ally in combat, the cursor sometimes has a problem stating that the "target is too far" if you put the cursor on the wrong body part, I've had other problems where I select the enemy but the cursor goes off and makes my character move instead of attacking. I also seriously dislike having to wait for every enemy to take their turn, wish I could just skip their attacks so I can get back to doing mine. Combat seems to be needlessly long but maybe that's only because I'm going up against higher level enemies.

I think I'm close to solving the undead problem as I'm in the church yard where there's a skeleton baron sitting on some throne who must be commanding all the undead.

Combat aside and the exploration, quests and dialogue are great. I wish Larian would have went with real time combat however as that's really my only gripe with the game...

There will probably be a mod for that too, at some point! (if it's not too hard to change the combat, that is!)

From what I've seen, everything is Action Point based, and the combat would be a clusterduck with all the enviromental effects flying around. The encounter design would need a massive overhaul to stop the mobs zerging you.

X-com was my first game on DOS when I moved from C64, so I don't really mind turn based. Ya'll just got lazy in this era of gaming, dudes!

I really hope it finally arrives on Monday (Belgium is 15 hours away, what the Hell postal service), or I'll have to go to the post office and take some names.

Just got in my first session last night.

The companion/two PC's thing is cool, but has an extreme drawback - you wind up hating them both.

Each companion has a perosnality that evolves throughout dialogue choices and quest decisions. However, this often means they begin developing traits that are at odds with eachother, since they constantly second guess each other. What this winds up being is that you can't really make a choice about a quest decision, since your companion will interrupt and challenge you, which will then result in a paper-rock-scissors match (literally) to decide who is right.

This can be counter-balanced by putting points in persuasion skills that give you and advantage in these RPS situations, but here's the rub - since the personality traits aren't clear cut D&D chaotic evil or lawful good, but rather are more realistic such as "pragmatic vs. Romantic/idealistic," it makes it difficult to dump points in this skill to help guarantee what you choose is what happens.

EDIT: As I was typing this, I came across something that explained what something in the CC was - Character Personality can be set to Random (what I chose), Loyal (everyone always agrees) and another setting this is argumentative, where they question everything. Knowing that, I think I will keep it on Random, because it is great having the LOLZ, but a Loyal run may be something people may enjoy their first time out. Especially if the idea of saving a giant talking clam sounds good to you instead of selling it to a merchant.

That being said, the game is designed to be player with a real human being the other character, so cursing at the human on the other side (as well as consistently playing the same character, both from a gameplay and RP perspective) may be more satisfying. I can definitely see the appeal, although, just like BG style: you need to get the same person to play with you every time to get the best results and, as always, life schedules make this sometimes hard.

That being said, you can set up multiple games/profiles so that if you have a group of players you want to rotate in and out, this could be viable.

She is? I felt her voice was familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.
