The GOG version with the new patch must be flawless! I'm in.

What does the latest patch do? o.0

Is it the same as the latest one from Steam, or a new one?

And yeah, go for it!

In one of their early-access livestream followed by a Q&A, Sven (the head guy) told that his favourite way to play is trying things which weren't the developer's intention, and see what's going to happen. So there are no exploits as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes when the game won't play fair, I show it who's boss. :D

Rearranging terrain before tough encounters is my new craze. The first Temple fight try pretty much told me where to shove it, so I concurred. Clever use of pyramids and bottlenecking stuff with slippery frozen pools made it look like an ice revue of blood and delicious fun.

That's what I love about this game.

Another good tip is to have one hero/companion engage in an ongoing fight by having them go behind the enemy so he/she can flank them. Sometimes I make the mistake of having all my party engage enemies at the same time from the front when I could have two of them go behind the enemy for a flanking advantage.

Although, the thing I mentioned before was actually an exploit/bug as it only works on those particular mushrooms. Another trick you can do that always works, is have your healer stay 15 meters away from a fight and heal your party members outside of combat, this allows for infinite heals and quick cool-downs whilst combat is paused so you can effectively restore all your characters to full health in combat without anyone having to use up their turns. This does feel cheap though...

...oh and you can also have them resurrect dead party members from outside of combat.

Well, I'm dual Lone Wolfing, so there's only so much you can do with two characters.

The pacing at the end of map 2 took a really huge blow for me (or Hiberheim was just way too awesome), I'm running around in circles trying to trigger event flags so the story will catch up to the stuff needs to be doing I've already figured out...

So I can't change my eye color in character creation?

Ah... How can I open this door or the one next to it? Even my smart 3-vases technique didn't do the job!

Is that the tutorial dungeon? One of your folks has to walk on it, then the door to the right opens and there's another stone over there, which will open the door for the character from this side.

Yeah, pressure plates that open doors only work if you have a character stand on them.

Pressure plates that activate anything that isn't a door can work if you throw an object on them.

Remember this...

And no, you can't change your character's eye color in CC sadly.

I think 4GB of ram ain't enough for this game. On acceptable graphic, 2x filter and high texture, I had some music-pause moments, then later in the port city I had graphic pauses. With a fast searching in the city game crashed and windows-8 wasn't completely released from the game for 5 minutes.

Anywhere to get this game cheap, possibly with a Steam key?

No idea to be honest. But if you already have a co-op partner you could buy Steam's Collector's Edition for $70 which has two copies. Alternatively, a single copy of D:OS is priced at $31.59 (for me at least) on GOG.com.

Divinity Original Sin uses regional pricing for this and GoG have a few other games like W3 also with regional pricing, they have already ditched it but these games where already priced before they changed it back and will therefore not be changed to dollars in europe and will be available only in Euro in Europe and is currently priced 40 euros.

Best RPG in like a decade and the thread is kinda dead here on BSN.

Not surprising.

This might get me a few strange looks considering the continuous fangasm this game has evoked but I don't get it. Like at all. I've had it for almost a week now and it just fails to get my attention. The dialogue is perfunctory, like something they felt just had to be there and got it out of the way.  The world so far seems indistinguishable from countless other fantasy settings, granted I'm still in Cyseal but meh. Orcs & undead. Woo. The interactions between the two protags are weird and stilted and I don't really see the point of including it since the responses [so far] are always cut and dry binaries. The combat is fun but not enough to keep my interest. The environment is large but not distinct, granted the only game that had me interested in the scenery was Bioshock Infinite so maybe my standards are too high here. The world-building is like someone putting in all the lines on the page but not bothering to colour it in. I've done the murder investigation till where the

. The characters aren't engaging and I can't bring myself to care about the resolution of this small town drama.

But then I look at the fangasming and I have to wonder why. What am I missing here? And then I remember that old statistic that says most 'hardcore' gamers are 35ish, and this game is a throwback to the original Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights and etc. which makes more sense since I didn't like those either. I like my RPGs with characters and interactions that can ground me to the world, that makes me care. I like RPGs with dense, lovingly crafted worlds I can really sink my teeth into. Stories that can evoke some kind of emotional response from me. And yet this is being toted as the best RPG since ever which just drives home to me how ****** subjective [and useless] the idea of 'best' is when you just prefer different things.

Have you played the previous games? You play Divinity games for the charming, snarky writing, not for the setting. Well, maybe except Dragon Commander, ruling as a madman with the undead inquistion backing you up is always fun, and the characters are great, but the gameplay is just functional, nothing to write home about. The setting is generic fantasy on purpose, so they can have fun with it. Skeletons fall apart once they ponder on how they are supposed to exist, you get hailed as the hero and then have to help out the cook with the unwashed dishes (in Divine Divinity). That this game happens to have kickass combat mechanics and tons of ways to approach situations is just a bonus.

Freedom to do things your way is why it gets so much praise. As much as people love binary/multiple choices, the way you get to there is mostly the same in BioWare games. Not here. It's like a Troika/Obsidian game. Great characters and story aren't unique to video games, good gameplay elements to help you craft your own experience however, is. You can finish quests with hillarious off the tracks thinking, which was obviously wasn't intended by the developer. For example, there is a boss late game who summons lava pools randomly, you can get him to off himself with those if you are clever. And there is a bad guy city which you can take by force, or bluff your way into and weaken them from the inside, get to kill each other, or just simply walk up to the leaders at the main square, full of enemies, and say that you are here to kill them, because that's how you roll on your massive balls. I take this freedom over any cinematic dating sim stuff BioWare offers.

And it's designed to be a co-op experience from the get go, so solo players are missing out a lot. Granted I played single and still had a blast, but I've tried it with a friend and it is a hellova lot more fun.

Don't you just love it with an enemy dies with their bottom in the air? LOL XD

I kinda feel that when I come back later, I'll find them with their pants down or something as there's some sick people roaming Rivellon...

Also since I kind of suck at this game using the 4play mod has been godly. 4 Source Hunters are just sooo fun. Got my rogue/cleric/knight/mage combo going :D

Greetings all,

I just wanted to let you all know about a promising Divinity Original Sin mod that I recently came across. The designer plans to recreate the original Diablo game in its entirety using the Divinity tool set, complete with original music. The game will feature turn-based combat, a departure from the original game, but looks like it is remaining pretty faithful to the series as far are aesthetics are concerned. Here are a few pics in case you are interested:

Getting a bit bored with Original Sin tbh. It lacks something that made Divine Divinity and Divinity 2 great. I think it's the story personally. I think I'm near to the end though.
