Team Assault is proof that they tried it and it didn't work. Why would you use it as evidence to support them trying it again?

You're a fool. We should eat you.

I'lll bring the forks and Ryncol

What's Team Assault?

Team Assault

That actually looks like it could be really fun.

I agree.. as a spin off. The main franchise should stay TPS..

It could be like a sci-fi version of Battlefield, but with Mass Effect lore and races. Sounds awesome to me. The main series? No. But I'll take this over stupid iOS games.

If human characters still roll, I might puke from dodging... I actually got motion sickness from playing Uncharted, once... stupid water jet stage...

Yeah, I don't want to puke all over my shiny, new PS4/Durango/PC I stole... bought!

Gears of War?

Still unique enough to me. It's not like you can do a Biotic team on GoW and things like that...

Well yeah. Every game is unique in one way or another. In the FPS world, you have Halo, Battlefield, CoD, Crysis, etc. Each has pretty unique features, but they're all the same genre.

People saying that if Mass Effect became an FPS it's be just like CoD are talking out of blind cynicism.

I personally prefer third-person cover-based game play a lot more than first-person game play.  Nothing wrong FPS, I do really enough BF3, but I just prefer the style of combat ME has more.  I very much doubt they will go this route in the next ME title but I suppose its possible.

Even if they do decided to do this, I don't believe it will become CoD/BF/w.e "IN SPACE".  Even though the ME3 MP was purely focused on combat, it included all of the elements of ME's combat that made it Mass Effect.  Regardless of how the next ME game turns out, I don't think they would so completely gut what makes the game unique.

Well I'd love to fly a gunship, but maybe a tiny minigame in the next Mass Effect would be cool, however it would end it.

3rd person is an awesome way of playing, it's the traditional RPG format. I love FPSs but if I want to play a FPS I will play Halo, or something.

But we might never know, I can say most of us were horrified at the idea of ME3 MP and look-- a lot of people like it more than the SP or play it way more than the SP itself. Unless it's a new outlook on FPSs, it will be recycled and rehashed.

We'll see.

Have you played the two? The only similarity is the third-person perspective.

yeah, I don't think it would be like CoD, but it wouldn't be like ME either. It would be something new, in a certain way, but I'm not giving up on the ME I know only to have this "maybe will be good" new thing...

To be honest, I've never played GoW. But the people complaining about Mass Effect becoming and FPS have likely never played any other FPS besides CoD and maybe a little Halo. So the misinformation is shared.

In my eyes the core of ME is team spirit and emotion, SP and MP. U fight together and u explore together. If Bioware would change this or if they would make it a PvP, PvP-TeamVSTeam or a Mmorpg, I would abandon it and I think it wouldn´t be progressive or innovative, it would be a step backwards for me.

I mean I never had so much fun with a MP game and this is crazy, because I think the MP was just an experiment of Bioware to get familiar with it in the ME universe and the people who like ME in a MP setting.

I wouldn´t like if it would be "loot" based (like e.g. Borderlands 2) but it could have "loot" aspects. Maybe it could be interesting if there would be an option to play on the "dark-side" in MP - there could be the evil AI horde and a few evil players amidst them (with a few options to influence the behaviour of the AI horde or the AI guys in their vicinity).
I think it would be awesome if they would make it possible to play the story mode together with friends - there could be maybe one main story player character and the friends can join the missions and maybe - that would be ultimate - can get a part of the story.

If ME was turned into an FPS I wouldn't but it. I absolutely HATE the first person perspective in gaming. It's primarily why I never bought Skyrim and it's why I was never able to get into BioShock.

Wow that's one game. (that is really only 'kind of' similar) Now how many COD clones can you name?

:?

You know that pretty much all Elder Scrolls games (I can't speak for Arena or Daggerfall) have the option to freely switch between 1st and 3rd person, right?

I personally thought the combat in ME3 was the series high point. Transitioning to FPS seems like a really odd idea, and seems mostly based on the concept of a prototype from years ago and the fact that the next ME game will share an engine with BF. Unreal proves that engines don't have to be used for the same thing all the time.

I guess I'm saying that I'm not opposed to the idea, but I'd be disappointed if they gave up on ME3's combat system and didn't try to refine/tighten the TPS combat that they've always used.

Kind of similar? Ignoring setting, weapons, and characters, and just looking at the basic combat mechanics, they're almost identical.

I'm not a huge GoW fan (I'm a PC gamer, so f*ck consoles and their slow erosion of good games), but credit is due where credit is due. ME3 would not be as good as it has been if not for mechanics experimented with in GoW.

I love TES series (Morrowind is still my favorite due to setting and plot), but if you stay in the third person for any length of time, even in Skyrim, it just looks silly as hell. The game was not polished with third-person in mind, not in graphics, not in modeling, and not in mechanics.

and Skyrim 3rd person is actually good (at least other players say it's, I prefer first person on TES)
