"BF4 proves that ME4 will suck"
"No, it's a few years down the road, so it's sure gonna be AWESOOOOOOOME~"

That demo was run at 3K resolution on a pair of 7990s (Quadfire 7970s).

If that didn't impress you, PS4 games will impress you even less, it will be years of optimization before PS4 could start to mimic that level of quality with shortcuts and optimizations.

Not to mention...Mass Effect is a Bioware game, when has Bioware games ever looked current.

Mass Effect looked great when it came out, as did ME2 and ME3. I'd even go so far as to say ME3 looks better than the more current big-budget titles coming at us such as Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Assassins Creed III.

Underwhelming, what?

BF4 is already far along, ME4 barely started development. So it probably will look even better.

Besides that, calling this underwhelming if you look at the majority of the current gen titles.. are you joking?

Now that we recently found out through an accidental dev tweet that ME will be using this engine

Accidential tweet? BioWare Montreal's Studio Director confirmed it on Twitter. That's barely accidential.

He made a point of saying "Frostbite" to which everyone was reporting Frostbite 2. Another dev let it slip that it was Frostbite 3 this week, to which Yannick Roy (BW MTL SD) replied positively

I think you are mistaken. Aaryn Flynn confirmed that DA3 and the next ME would use Frostbite 3.

As for potential, yea the engine has a lot. I mean it may not look the greatest in the world but I definitly had some great grqphics. I mean thinking about ME and the DA series now I think the engine will add a lot to the game.

BF4 looks like cash-in of BF3. Milking it now EA? Activision milks CoD, Ubisoft milks AC and now EA is freshly milking BF. TRIPLE NICE!

Yes, the graphics do look underwhelming and the FB engine isn't really great and is just a big pile of overrated ****, but it still looks better than most of the stuff you have.

And to me, it looks like the FB engine can only provide vibrant explosions. Well, DA3 will be the judge of this!

After an inadvertant "3" slip instead of just generic "Frostbite" in a tweet

Bioshock Infinite looking worse than that blurry mess called ME3:

Bioshock looks almost cel-shaded sir. The game may be excellent but it is no graphical showcase. It looks dated already texturally, though the art direction and attention to detail is quite impressive.

Edit: seriously ME3 makes Bioshock Infinite look (LOOK is they key word here) like Fable

Yeah, untill you can give me a 60" PC monitor I'll stay a "peasant".

Besides the old gamer adage still applies, graphics < gameplay

84" 4K screen for your PC games

Just add 4000€ more for a GTX Titan quad-SLI and laugh at those 1080p peasants.

You know you're cutting too many corners when your main charater has lower res textures than a freaking prop.

That was my point exactly, thanks for the images.

I actually think visually that looks pretty amazing. The game itself is of no interest to me whatsoever, but visuals wise I was pretty impressed.

Is Frostbite only able to do FPS though? Or can it do third person perspectives too? I really hope ME stays a third person game, as that was part of what I loved about it

Yeah, it can do 3rd person.

All game engines these days arent limited to their "signature" genre. Unreal engine 3 gas been used from not only games but also tv shows to generate backgroung scenery....

Look at everything else in the images, and the games for that matter. You can't objectively tell me that Bioshock Infinite has better visuals than ME3. Neither of them are powerhouses in this department, but BSI is almost cartoony. With all due respect.

Thats the art style, and somewhat objective. The quality of what is being rendered is higher in Bioshock Infinite imo.

Just watched the BF4 demo and I thought it was pretty damn good actually.

EA has some weird ideas regarding the human body...

Dead Space says you can break limbs by stomping on them.
BF4 says you can cut a bone by using a knife.

Ok...

Why is that a bad thing? I like the stylized look of Bioshock Infinite. It looks much more appealing that Mass Effect 3, with its PS2 era textures and ridiculous 2D sprites.

Oh gods, see this is what I was trying to be clear about NOT getting at.

Being stylized does not mean it's poor graphically or artistically. It's just not trying to resemble reality.

And to the poster above you...

You do realize the creative teams behind Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Battlefield not only have used different engines, but are completely different studios?

That would be like saying Bane's strength should logically be attributed to Leonidas' genes, as both films are produced by Legendary pictures...

Of course I can... texture resolution is much higher, so is poligon count, there are more and better shaders, better ilumination (dat lack of light in ME3 cutscenes...), bigger enviroments, more props, decent DoF, options to turn down things like the bloom (unlike the lens flares in ME3), better FoV and a lot more polish in general.

If you can't spot the difference VRAM usage will tell you, ME3 tops at 400MB, Bio:I uses more than 1GB on max settings, even the size diference is brutal, ME3 is 9,8GB while Bio:I is 17GB for shorter game without multiplayer.

That was the objective and they succeded, the game is gorgeous.

Every single review (even the "bad" ones) agreed on that point.

On the good side it will be designed for the next cycle of consoles, which means better graphics and more tuned for multiple cores which will benefit PC users (about damn time).

Ram usage and game size are absolutely no measure for how real or good a game is graphically.

Bioshock Infinite has an ovewhelming amount of dialogue in it that most people will never hear. ME is like this to a much smaller extent.

Yes, the is visually impressive, but it is no graphical accomplishment. Side to side, ME3 will always seem more real graphically.

And again neither is a benchmark in the generation.

And finally, again, yes Bioshock is a treat for the eyes, but in a different way.
