 David Gaider's responses were well said. I always want more respect for individuals. That being said, I wouldn't focus anything entirely on appearance. In any kind of 'fantasy. or adventures of any kind, really, since we're inside of a nonreality -- most of us, most of the time want to look as close to 'our version of perfect' as we can make our character, which may include a scar or some 'imperfection', or may not. The NPCs could be a little less ridiculously over-the-top *cough* with their figures/clothing. I hope the respect will include dialogue and plotlines more in the future. It's all evolving, hopefully, and not devolving.

Well that's dependent on your character YOU make--if Hawke is fugly, she likely will be too. But if Hawke is nice and handsome or pretty, she'll likely be pretty too.

Her appearance is entirely dependent on your Hawke. So I don't think a judgement can be made there.

If you'll notice, Jimmy said nothing about Bethany at all. Perhaps there was a good reason for that. 

Bethany's looks are dependent on the appearance of your character and she is your sibling. I did not list her for the same reason I did not list Carver on my males list - incest is not progressive. 


To the person who made the Kasumi point, she is a DLC character. Bioware has yet to make a DLC character you can have sex with of any gender, so she is excluded for the same reason Awakenjng characters are. 

I'll now make a list of traditionally attractive female companions or ship members you can have sex with in Bioware (post EA buy out, to keep things simple):

Ashley

Liara

Leliana

Morrigan

Jack

Tali

Miranda

Isabella

Merrill

Kelly Chambers

Samantha Traynor

Diana Allers

So I'd say until we can have a female who your standard 14 year old straight male would drool over who is immune to the insane sex appeal of being the main character in a video game, it is possibly painting the picture that every attractive female is ready and willing to hop into bed with you. And that's not very progressive at all.

Why didn't you list the males as a comparison? I find them almost any male "traditionally" attractive companion will also have sex with the PC.

So's Sebastian.  Having excluded Varric and Sten as aliens, and Vega because you can sleep with him, we have no males left.

If there's an issue there, which there might be, it's not about gender

(Tali is an interesting definition of traditionally attractive.  Also, Javik is a DLC character you can have sex with:?)

Don't leave out Garrus. He is male. Liara, Morinth and Samara are not female - they are mono gendered. If having boobs is all it takes to be female, then there is a whole different discussion that needs to be had.

And this isn't a comparison of the number male romances to female - it is the implication that every "droolable" female in Bioware games is also sexable. You don't think that sends a mixed, less-than-progressive message?

Asari are female. They're monogendered, not no-gendered. They reproduce through parthenogenesis, not through hermaphroditism.

Maybe, but since it treats both sexes approximately equivalently, not a sexist one.  I don't find "killing 1000s of people makes you a hero" progressive, but it's not really relevant to this thread.

Virtually is not the same as all. 

Men are stereotypically attractive if they are atheltic, muscular and fit. I have given numerous examples where said stereotypes of males are non-romanceable for no stated reason at all. Women who are buxom and angular of face are all romanceable and sexable, if they fall into the type of character that the game let's you have sex with (non-DLC, non-expansion characters). 

Would you all not view it as slightly possible predication to make the traditionally attractive females in their games undeniably willing to have sex with the main character? Seeing as how they have little problem doing the same to male characters?

Some would argue more male romances to create balance. I argue more "thanks, but no thanks" responses to romance requests.

But it doesn't. Males are non-romanceable for no reason at all. No samurai code, no mysterious reason that can never be altered - it is blocked off. Vega, Varric, Sten... these are all male, all athletic and fulfill a stereotypical male physique. 

There is no female equivalent of Isabella or Miranda that is non-romanceable (read: non-sexable). I find it boggling that people on the BSN can't find that indicative of a negative portrayal of women. Since it indicates that if a female is broadly attractive, then they must be sexual available.
