The spitfire weighs more than a typhoon and slows you down and should therefore do more damage than a typhoon.

Sure it could kill my boss... IF I HAD IT!

It loses to the Typhoon in every way. Except ammo. But we have 6 thermal packs and since the Typhoon doesn't slow you down - ammo isn't an issue.

Spitfire is a disappointment.

I used it with AP ammo IV and AR amp and it was still taking way too long to kill gold difficulty ravagers. What am I missing? How is it supposed to be a good boss killer?

Don't forget that you can't fire the GSF from cover without going into 'aim out of cover' mode, which means you're going to get shot to pieces.

The only time you can take advantage of this gun's huge clip is when you're exploiting RHA, which isn't always possible, particularly on objective waves.

And so, even IF its damage was on par with, or even better than the Typhoon (it isn't), it would still have significant drawbacks that would make you not want to use it.

In order for this thing to be useful it would need a HUGE damage buff. 2-3x.

Having just passable dps on a weapons class with level 4 consumables is not acceptable.

Extended magazine, incendiary rounds, HVB, AR Amp, Destroyer with all weapon damage and ammo capacity passives.

What else did you use?

If you use incendiary ammo you are doing it very, very wrong.

I did it wrong once. I equipped it. Never again.

Edit: If you're serious that it's a boss killer, then please enlighten me. It looks entirely too nasty to be as awful as I feel like it is.

Spitfire's damage is by no means bad, it can most definitely be an efficient boss killer.

Dat movement speed penalty though...

I really like the Spitfire too, though there are better boss killers available. The movement speed penalty is so annoying though, pretty much have to equip a second weapon just so you can run quick if you need to.

i really enjoy using it. It is not the BEST WEAPON IN THE GAME that does the most DPS (omg throw it out), but it is fun to use - you can fire for ever - never tried it on an HS...

I could use the same 3 wepaons over and over again, of I could take some different ones out

I agree take away speed penalty would make me use it more

Seriously, it can kill bosses just a tad slower than the Typhoon:

Damage isn't bad at all, though it's not the best boss killer in the game by any means. It does perform better against mooks than other "boss killers", but that's not a huge endorsement, especially with the penalties it carries.

The fact that it kills things slower than the Typhoon even though it weighs [50%?] more than it AND slows your character's movement speed is bad. It doesn't make up for it's weaknesses unfortunately, and it has some heavy [lol pun] weaknesses there.

I can't get myself to use it, mostly because the classes I use are small, and the gun will make them go really slow. Pizza would be cold by the time I deliver it.

Period.

It is very good against mooks.

It can take down 2 Possessed Praetorians with 1 clip if you use extended magazine, and I think it could kill another one if you have the oportunity.

Come at me.

The spitfire should come equipped w/ a lawn chair.

That made me laugh

I acknowledge that the balance changes are finished, but bioware should do an emergency, unscheduled balance change just to "fix" the spitfire.

I still cant get over the fact that they pulled the plug on balance changes with spitfire in the form that it is.

They should have removed the movement penalty so that you could move at full speed when not firing.

I never said otherwise.

Though for the record, it is better than the Typhoon against shields or barriers and roughly as good against health, so as I stated earlier, against anything that doesn't have armor the Spitfire does kill it faster than the Typhoon (which again, doesn't make up for the penalties anyway).

Swarmers, Prime drones, and Prime turrets are the true bosses in this game. Seriously, they are the deadliest enemies for squishy characters.

Would probably squash a Phantom. :P And Phantoms can't evade slow moving stuff.
