Console or PC the DOT of incendiary starts after the firing stops. The target procs the ammo effects earlier but the DOT doesn't start until after you quit firing.

If you think incendiary takes down things quicker than AP, it should be simple to actually time it and see.

I have done it :P

AP takes down bosses much faster.

For some reason BW really considered spare ammo and magazine size an important balancing factor. Will never understand the logic behind that.

It's a perfectly valid balancing tactic if spare ammo is a limited resource, like it was in ME2.

But it isn't

The thing is, Spittfire can take 2 possessed praetorians in 1 clip, but it takes forever, but the main joke behind this thread is, that even if spittfire can do what no other gun can do in the game, still kind of "meh"

that weight.......

If you use a Marksman or AR character, you can pop the power before unloading a clip, can't you?  So, you can essentially one clip the entire wave, and then some (if you can reload while firing).

Basically, you can one clip an entire game!

Nah, you run out of ammo on wave 3. :P

Seriously, you can 1 clip an entire wave without marksman or Adrenaline rush :o

Just in the same way that Harrier is 'balanced' SOLELY on its spare ammo......:bandit:

inb4flamers.

The lack of spare ammo is still a better balancing factor than the abundance of spare ammo. I doesn't matter if you have 1000 rounds if it takes at least 500 to kill something. Having to stop and reload cuts down DPS and puts you at danger; think of the Pirahna.

Well, yeah, that's sort of what I was saying. Ammo scarcity was there by design in ME2, to force weapon swapping and facilitate player movement (the second half didn't succeed so much due to the slower player movement speed and very good bonuses that staying in cover provided).

ME3 is very obviously designed to be more fast and fluid. Getting rid of ammo scarcity contributes to that; why scrounge for ammo when it can be found almost everywhere so you can keep fighting. It's a reason why the Harrier and Spitfire are both not balanced in meaningful ways except in Platinum. There, it is rare to see the Harrier except used on a Demolisher, and the Spitfire is used even less because its excess ammo is meaningless.

The spitfire isn't bad.

Stop saying it's bad. Sure, your harrier hits harder, but then again your harrier requires a trip to the ammo box before it's managed to kill anything... making the spitfire the more efficient boss killing option.

Already addressed, but yeah, if ammo was a limited resource I'd find it a good balance factor, but the way ME3 MP works, it really isn't at all, which is why I find it perplexing they put so much value in it when balancing weapons. Only on Platinum is spare ammo a tiny little bit of an important factor, (still easy to get ammo back, not to mention thermal packs), unless it's Platinum on Dagger Hazard... then spare ammo does become an imporant factor.

Wait, we're still taking Bioware's stance on reserve ammo supply being a balancing factor seriously?

I gave up taking them seriously in regards to spare ammo being important for the balance of a gun when they released the abominations that were the krysae, reegar and to a lesser extent the cerberus carrier.

The DoT with incendiary starts when you stop firing your weapon, which means that if you shot the target and don't stop shotting you are just wasting incendiary ammo's potential, it's like if you don't have something equiped.

I will tell peddro myself to come here and explain you, because you have missunderstood what you read there.

Actually, Ronnie is right.  The DoT for incendiary starts immediately though there will always be the final 6 ticks where most of the DoT damage will be done.  Take a look at this thread by Peddro.

http://social.biowar...885477#15885477

Extracted from said thread -
(NEW INFO) incendiary ammo does damage ticks every 0.5 seconds during
continuous application (NEW INFO) ... There will always be 6 more DOT
ticks after you stop firing at the target ...
- (NEW INFO)
previously I was under the impression that the incendiary ammo stacking
is unlimited ... The latest test seems to indicate there is a potential
cap for the incendiary ammo stacking ..In this particular test the
damage cap was reached at ~ 8 seconds of continuous stacking ... More
tests are in order (NEW INFO)
