If you need headcanon or a mod. to end a game satisfyingly, there's something wrong. And indeed there is. Beat ME 1 about 12 times, ME 2 about 20. ME 3, twice. Also have all DLC for the first two, only Leviathan for 3, then thought, "Oh to hell with it, it's dead."

Agreed.  Without the Citadel DLC and the destroy ending, then yes it felt like a goodbye and good riddance to the Reapers.

With the Citadel DLC, it felt like a proper way to say goodbye to all the characters.  That's what was missing.  I mean yeah when you're in London saying goodbye to all the squadmates was alright, just didn't seem like enough for what all you've gone through with them all.

Agreed, the party was nice, the whole dlc was good and even the clone fit in with the overall theme that Shepard couldn't do it all alone without his friends.  Was a good way to say goodbye.

The only depressing part was everyone heading back to the Normandy, so I just skipped it and kept a save game right before the party starts.  Now I can party with them anytime I want.

I know I did. Hell, I still do.

Not because it makes the game too depressing to play, but because I know this is the last time I'll ever see or hear from these great characters again.

Burst into spontaneous tears for no reason other than the thought of never seeing these magnificent crew again.

What it represented was what really made me sad. It's the real end of the series. Even discussing the series is less interesting now. No new stuff to talk about or speculate on. It's an odd feeling. Sort of like it's time to move on completely from the series.

Buuuut still, it's an awesome DLC and moments like the last scene are really comparable to real life. Like saying good bye to your family or friends at the end of a really awesome visit. It's sad that it's ending, but it was so much fun.

Memories.

My thoughts exactly.  The DLC itself has some sad moments, like returning to the Normandy.  However the real sad part is that this is the last DLC and the end of the trilogy.  It'll definitely take me a while to get over that because the characters are so damn awesome.

I just hope the next ME even though it won't have Shepard, will at least have some link to the trilogy, whether it be lore or one or more of the trilogie's characters.

That's what happened to me when I saw the final scene of everyone returning to the Normandy the first time.

It really does suck that the story has to end between them all, because Shepard and the crew aren't exactly old.  It would make sense that they would have more adventures to come.

But you can visit your family or friends again and have wacky new adventures. Not really the case here.

To those that did get depressed after the party, how long did it take you to get over it? Have you gotten over it?

I just finished 2 playthroughs this week, and it's pretty rough when it all ends.  I thought maybe going back to play ME1 would help since I don't completely remember everything that went on, but then again I already know how it all ends.

Takes me about an hour to get over it.

I suppose I'm lucky though, because I save the majority of the character interactions for after the party.

Character interactions as in inviting them over to the apartment?  I figured I had to do all those before the party started or I'd lose them.

You can still replay the DLC! It seems like it has a few variations in it.

But yeah, it's the same jokes. They are charming jokes, but that doesn't change the fact that you heard them once before.

As for how long it takes me to get over it? Well, it's not really a rush of sadness. It's more like a tugging. Really only occurs close to the time when I play the game though.

Yeah, those. You can do every single one of them before or after the party.

Ahh good to know.  I'll have to do it that way next time I get around to a playthrough, that way I don't have to think of the scene with the crew leaving to board the Normandy as the final scene.

The EC endings?  Yeah they were pretty depressing.  The MEHEM mod ending made it better though.

Honestly I still feel a bit melancholy but I imported my laast (I think) Shep from ME2 and started her run, dicked around in skyrim with my Assassin woodelf a bit. This DLC really gives me hope for Bioware even if the ending is still awful.

For me it was probably more because it wasn't just an ending of the game, it was an ending of everything.  All the characters we've grown to love, all of it.

That's what made it depressing.
