Keep your best character at level 20, don't promote it. Promote the other 5 classes. Play a ton of gold matches with your level 20 & then buy only recruit packs. You will level up the other clases without actually playing them.

I blew through a ton of gold matches using my Krogan Vanguard & promoted all the other classes without actually using them at all.

And be sure to "open" each character in the classes.  This will help you reach 60 faster.

I found N7 mastery easy. It's the weapons challenges that I am finding to be a grind.

"Must do it" /facepalm. It is a game, ffs, nothing is obligated to do. Now as you have that virtual banner, feels better? Does it count? The game itself could be shutdown anytime, sooner or later, then nobody will care about that, especially you as you will focus on other things.

Seriously, I wonder how my generation could play games like Wizard of Wor for countless hours without achievements, challenge points, virtual rewards etc. 

I am pretty sure I will never do the N7 Mastery because I hate promoting and levelling again and I don't feel I must do it. I just play the game for FUN, for an adrenaling pumping, exciting passtime activity.

well, you don't understand.. It is FUN, I play for fun, no matter for the banners or any other kind of rewards.
the fact is that leveling has made me stronger, more confident... Too easy to play always with a level 20, full powered... But when you play 16 you must choose what to sacrifice, and every gold match is harder, but now I can play most of my character better than ever...

no other price in this except my personal one.

and yes, the N7 was the worst mastery to achieve, but

I already had 44 promotions before N7 came out.  It's a real shame that they didn't count, still all done now.

All weapons Challenges done.

About 70 waves for Bloodpack then 350ish for Outsider and I'm done.

as I said, I will do one single last promotion!
all my characters have been promoted 13 times, except one that stopped at 12.
so I will bring also the vanguard to 13 promotions :-)

But for sure, I won't repeat. No other 60 promotions ;-)

read the Saminator guide to the n7 mastery... 
Every promotions was limited to few matches, because my characters were always minimum level 14/15..
