Empress Celene is one of those characters who I didn't know I wanted to "meet" as badly as I do, until I find out that we're going to have a book based on her.
For one, she looks absolutely stunning. For another - from the details we've heard about her across both games, the comics and the books, she sounds so wonderful. How she wanted to unite Ferelden and Orlais, how she's interested in discovering Sandal's abilities, how she has been Empress since she was put on the throne at the age of sixteen? She sounds like such a complex character to get to know, and I for one am eager to "meet" her through this book soon.
(Plus, she's written by Patrick Weekes. With all of this plus a storyline as interesting as an Elven uprising, I feel like this book is going to be amazing.)
Weekes displayed tasteful writing for those who are considered minorities in The Palace Job(the Urujar). So he could probably handle the elven/human tensions fairly well.
Not to mention he has a very good comedic sense in his writing. Several parts of TPJ made me laugh a lot.
And he writes his fight scenes very well.
The problem with Deitz and Deception was that he lacked familiarity with Mass Effect's universe and the ME team should have proof read the book before it went to publishing. Or they should have just made Drew Karpyshyn write it(he kept writing TOR books even after leaving Bioware. He could have taken time to do the last ME novel.)
