As I said, he's been working on Dragon Age (probably for quite a few months now), but caution's always a good default position I suppose.

He wrote Mordin, Jack, Tali and Kasumi and also wrote the Rannoch and Tuchunka sequences in ME3. So, a pretty good resume in my opinion.

Not to mention the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC for ME2.

I was so worried about a novel with no Gaider, but with this resume?! SOLD!!! 4 of my favorite characters and my fav dlc was made by the same person?! SOLD!!!!!!

Gapard looks similar to Tywin Lannister.

Seriously, that man has been resposible for some of the best scenes in the ME franchise IMO.  Definitley exited to see what he can bring to the DA series.

I hope that some of this elven uprising will be in DA3. That will be an interesting side-story.

Those pictures of the chevaliers were actually very nice.

I hope we see armors like that in game.

I wonder if we'll get any information on what Celene's plans where with Cailan, weather it really was love of just trying to get Ferelden though non violent means.

Yeah some clarification would be spiffy. I srsly doubt they'd release the game before the book, since it fills in some background, and so if it's July the end of the year release could still work but then again there was also that rumor that it would be released July OF NEXT YEAR. In which case miserable arm flailing is called for.

Unless the book is set after DA:I's story.

Or unless they want to do a prequel type thing like they did with The Stolen Throne and The Calling.

Still, it does me a lot of good to see the author being a Bioware writing and not someone like Dietz. Not that I would have minded Grand Duke Gascard peeing in Celene's vase and eating her crossaints.

Oh you and your silly fetishes.

Empress Celene is one of those characters who I didn't know I wanted to "meet" as badly as I do, until I find out that we're going to have a book based on her.

For one, she looks absolutely stunning. For another - from the details we've heard about her across both games, the comics and the books, she sounds so wonderful. How she wanted to unite Ferelden and Orlais, how she's interested in discovering Sandal's abilities, how she has been Empress since she was put on the throne at the age of sixteen? She sounds like such a complex character to get to know, and  I for one am eager to "meet" her through this book soon.

(Plus, she's written by Patrick Weekes. With all of this plus a storyline as interesting as an Elven uprising, I feel like this book is going to be amazing.)

Weekes displayed tasteful writing for those who are considered minorities in The Palace Job(the Urujar). So he could probably handle the elven/human tensions fairly well.

Not to mention he has a very good comedic sense in his writing. Several parts of TPJ made me laugh a lot.

And he writes his fight scenes very well.

The problem with Deitz and Deception was that he lacked familiarity with Mass Effect's universe and the ME team should have proof read the book before it went to publishing. Or they should have just made Drew Karpyshyn write it(he kept writing TOR books even after leaving Bioware. He could have taken time to do the last ME novel.)

Has anyone else noticed that they've taken the book off the B&N website? This is the page you get now: http://www.barnesand...31182&x=4308206

Hi! @PatrickWeekes Dragon Age: The Masked Empire - Publication date: 4/8/2014. True or another release date? From: http://bit.ly/15uFw42

PatrickWeekes ‏@PatrickWeekes

@IlidanDA I should not confirm any specific release date, but the date I would trust would come from Tor Books itself. :)

Just FYI, Tor (the publisher) is giving this book a big push. They bought a back cover ad for it in this month's Locus (the Science Fiction/Fantasy trade magazine).
