First DA novel to not be penned by David Gaider. Patrick Weekes, who seems to have exclusively worked with the Mass Effect franchise in the past, is taking over. I'm interested to see how well he does but am curious as to why Gaider isn't continuing to write. I'd hazard a guess that DA3 and other side projects are taking up most of his attention. It could be something entirely different. In any case, it's gonna take some adjusting.

I'd have liked to do another book, but I simply didn't have the time. Thankfully, the book's in good hands. Patrick is on the DA team now, and is a great writer. I suspect that if you liked my books you'll like what he's done/doing with this one.

Sounds good to me, D-Gai. I'm psyched for The Masked Empire already. Curse TOR and the year-long wait after announcing the novels(the wait for Asunder was annoying as hell.)

And there's always Book #5, amirite? lol

Well, at least it seems he might be more nuanced than just a power hungry, blood thirsty would be tyrant which was the first impression I got.

I'm just afraid he'll be hit with the villain stick.

That's probrably a given, honestly. Bioware has many qualities but subtelity is not one especially when it comes to villains.
I expect Lambert and Gaspard will behave like TIM in ME3. Obligatory villains because how could we, plebeans, support so obviously "evil" people whilst giving them some lines about everything they do is for the good of the people to make them sound "deep and morally grey". Despite the fact they will likely be making the most sense, anyway.

Did Patrick Weekes even write for The Illusive Man?

In The Palace Job, Patrick wrote a pretty good variety of bad guys.

Warden Orris, the smug and disgusting type.
Jyelle, the criminal thug type.
Hunter Mirrkir, the hunter, who's a golem that's pretty much dedicated to his assigned purpose.
Archvoyant Silestin, the ruthless political climber type.
Elkinsair, the Satyr who is kind of a perverted mad scientist.
Ambassador Bi'ul, the Champion of Dusk, who is more or less the stereotypic "ultimate evil" type villain

I'm not going to discount Mr. Weekes writing talent. He did write some of my absolute favorite characters and moments in the ME trilogy.
My fears are more centered around the treatment of both Lambert and Gaspard in "Inquisition" itself.

No. It was left very ambiguous in Asunder. Likely for a reason we don't know of yet.

Do want!

April 2014 release (might hint at DA3 being released around the same time or soon after?)

But... no!

:(

It's not soon enough!

And... no DA:I until 2014? I know it's not official, but I have to admit, it's probably likely...

I don't like the idea of waiting that long either, but I think that if it were released around that time BioWare would have had more than enough time to get the game just right.

Plus, I'd expect a reveal between April - June so we'll likely have a steady supply of info to tide us over.

Female protagonists, and interesting ones from the description. Looking forward. All they need to do now is announce Vincent Cassel as a lead voice actor for the game and the da3 will become my most anticipated of the year.;)

Kind of off topic but this has been something I wanted to say for some time.

TIM is the leader of the organization that has on more than one ocassion tricked Alliance marines to getting killed by Thresher Maws for the sake of science and personally assassinated an Alliance admiral despite their claims of pro humanity, TIM was always a villain, he is a space **** and not once was he meant to be in any shape or form a misunderstood hero.

On topic Gaspard seems cool and I just knew there was going to be an elven rebellion in DA3.

Here's hoping that you get to do more novels (Dragon Age or no) in the near future. :wizard:

And on the risk of creating an offtopic discussion, I'm just going to say that there are a lot of fans who agreed with the actions of Cerberus in all ME games, that ME2 gave you the option of supporting Cerberus and that doing the same for ME3 would raise the quality of the game.
That's all.

Gaspard sounds more like he invokes the My Country Right or Wrong trope than anything else.
