TIM was always a villain, he is a space **** and not once was he meant to be in any shape or form a misunderstood hero.

Ugh, I don't want to do this.

The fact that people do bad things for good reasons is why some of us supported TIM, we saw his ultimate goal as something which we agreed with and strived to accept. The fact that he turns into a "villain" in ME3 is simply because of indoctrination and the writers preventing us from allying with him, his arguments in ME3 made more sense to us than whatever the other people were spouting but all we could do was say "YOU'RE WRONG" or "GO F YOURSELF".

Gaspard sounds more like he invokes the My Country Right or Wrong trope than anything else.

Orlesian Loghain? I could get on board with that.

Well, we'd get to kill him, then.

Having an option to kill him and being forced to kill him are two different things.

But both reduce the odds of seeing him after one game. Unless, of course, he just dies in the book.

Considering his involvement in the political imbalance in Orlais and he's been mentioned in Asunder and has a pretty important role in this one, it's highly unlikely he'll meet his fate in a novel because killing him would resolve an important plot-point which could be handled and done interestingly in the main game.

Having the option to kill him wouldn't bother me much, we had the option to kill Loghain but it doesn't stop most of us from appreciating the character. Just hope we don't have to oppose him 90% of the time like Loghain.

Christ I hated that. DAO really tried its damndest to make you spout out comments that signified you hated Loghain, were his enemy, and couldn't see things from his point of view. Not once could you really have a good opinion of the man in regards to the situation he was placed in at Ostagar and a good opinion for his motives afterwards, even if his actions weren't the best way to go about them.

I highly doubt that anything Bioware does will be "political", after reading that description.

I'm interested to see how well he does but am curious as to why Gaider isn't continuing to write

DG said that writing novels is an exhausting feat, more so when he's also working on the games in the series, so he felt that the next book after Asunder -- if he wanted one made -- would be penned by someone else.

Isn't Lambert dead?

No. It was left very ambiguous in Asunder. Likely for a reason we don't know of yet.

Didn't seem that ambiguous to me.

Cole had Lambert pinned down with a knife to his throat. He asked him to look into his eyes - what he ALWAYS tells his victims to do before he kills them.

And Cole had a world of reason to hate Lambert and want to kill him.

That's probably why Gaider made the last sentence "I want you to look into my eyes". Because that tells the reader that Cole is going to kill him. And ends the book with a chilling moment.

I'd still like to imagine Lambert survived the attack but he's stuck in a vegetative state and the only thing that can save him is magic. The irony would be delicious.

Shame it's head-canon and he's most likely dead to weaken the already fragmented Templar to give the unorganized mages a chance.

"the elves who hide in the forests or starve in the alienages"
wild guess but i think the dalish are going to join in too.

i love what we seen so far but 2014 is way to far away to announced something like this if you ask me, i hope it was a typo but it is most likely not.

Well, color me excited. As disappointed as I am that David Gaider isn't writing the next one (I very much enjoyed the first three) I'm looking forward to seeing what Patrick Weekes brings us in this installment. From what information I've been able to find, Patrick Weekes wrote some of my favorite stuff in the Mass Effect trilogy and I'm so happy that he's now on the Dragon Age team. Really looking forward to this one.

That's why I'm not excited lol. I've just noticed the cover and that's it. But I'm glad to know they aren't done with the books however. That is the good new at this moment for me.

I must have missed that one.  I'm going to grab the kindle edition now and check it out.  It'll fill in the hours until vol 2of until we sleep comes out.  Gotta say, I'm feeling the need for some more DA content pretty badly now so I'm hoping for the earlier release date of the new novel.

Would be nice if the protagonist of this story was not one of the most influential persons in the world, but rather someone with no influence whatsoever, like an elf in the Alienage. And elven child in the Alienage, no one listens to children.

Why? I think seeing things from the perspective of the most powerful woman in Thedas is a lot more interesting than having yet another sotry about an impoverished underdog.

Plus, this is likely to be a story that will explore the nuances of Orlesian politics and culutre, as well as giving an overview other events which led up to the outbreak of the Orleisan Civil War. It's much easier to give a detailed and accurate version of this through the eyes of one who is involved in it firsthand.

Then we'd have to have a book with elves in it. Which is unfortunate.
