I did the challenges because I wanted to have everything, so I had to put what I realy like aside and do it, and I found out I liked other characters that I used really little before the challenges. And when I had everything I could go back to my normal gameplay. So if you feel you have to have it, go for it, if you don't then just leave it, if you already think it is not worth the trouble of using the characters you hate, you better not continue with it.

It's useless, just as every banner in fact.

I don't have it yet (22/25) but speaking from experience, the grinding is a PAIN. The grabs challenge takes concentrated effort on any map but Vancouver, and the 200 waves starts to get very grindy halfway through each. Rotate often and try to get 3-4 challenges at once. Example: GI with Reegar playing Reapers/Gold/Jade gets progress toward GI waves completed, GI extractions, Reegar use 140, Reegar use 200, Geth proximity mine use, Jade extractions, Jade bronze/silver/gold waves completed, and all the faction specific challenges.

Obviously it's in the eye of the beholder and all but I've been thinking about going after it. However, that commando one looks absurdly long to me considering I didn't use most of those characters often. Really, the 200 wave thing for so many characters is the drawback for me. I know I could grind bronze but that really doesn't appeal to me at all.

On the other hand, I've discovered how to use more characters properly in gold.

Carrier of the Carriers, it`s definitely worth it.

Delievers the message in PuG game with absolute clarity.

This is one thing I like about it.  In pugs it at least gives the illusion that you know what you are doing :P

Although I have seen some BAD botb players

I need 11 more promotions until I have it. After all the wave challenges, it got easy.

The promotions were......I can't even describe how cringe worthy that challenge was.

it's a grind. i did it because of the completionist in me. commando mastery was my first alien banner. it was fun completing it. the challenges forced me to use kits i really don't like but some of them i found out to be really good. the last one i did to complete BOTB was outsider and it was pretty cool coz they just released the drell assassin at that time. :)

That's entirely up to you, boss.

Me, I just finished my Lone Wolf, and only have Blood Pack and N7 challenges left. I'm still not sure if I'm going to bother going for the BotB or not, because I have little interest in doing that N7 challenge. I've never played Gold or Platinum with anything but a level 20, and have little interest in dragging a team down in Gold with my low level characters. I could play Silver, but don't have a lot of interest in that either.

Given that I've already done Nomad and Lone Wolf, probably the only really challenging banners in the mix, and that N7 is easily the easiest, I might just not bother.

It gives you credibility; that's about it. Well, I like having manly Shepard as a banner. Don't take the challenge lightly. It was a b*tch to get, but hell it was worth it.
Running platinum all the time. Add me if u want (Xbox).

Its not so bad if you have some favorite kits in different classes, that way you don't get bored. Thats how I see it right now at least. That and spamming recruit packs :P

N7 the easiest????

Wow, it took me about 2 weeks to get that many promotions.  2 weeks and million and millions of credits on recruit packs

But it is nice not to have to worry about those uncompleted challenges staring at me and just be able to play the game how I want without the completionist in me screaming like a little child

Also, I agree with a poster above, in that I ended up discovering I really liked a lot of kits and weapons that I'd never have touched otherwise.

BotB is just the beginning. Then it's on to completing every challenge within the challenges. It's the CoCwC mastery. Only the most fool-hearty go there.

If you like to play multiplayer a lot and find yourself going for challenges, might as well? But I don't see it as something worthy to brag about. Just a symbol of completion.

If you like playing a variety of characters and don't mind promoting then it should be no problem.

it gives you something to work towards and having it out of the way is nice.. at least to me. I haven't actually displayed mine since November because it's more about knowing I've done it rather than showing it off.

Eh I didn't mind the kits so much, but some of the weapon challenges were painful.

Its OK, its a way to keep you interested and playing I guess.

I already know I'm god. I don't really care if anyone else knows.

It's interesting to get bc it gives you an incentive to ttry differnet weapons or charachters.  And when I realized I was gonna end up with all the other banners I figured I might as well do the damn promotes.  It's to bad the reckoning banner couldn't count for BoTB. Would have been a nice replacement for N7 mastery.

I like playing a variaty of kits anyway, so that wasn't bad. I realize that some kits just suck and there is nothing you can do. There is usually about 1 terrible weapon per weapon challenge, and 200 waves with some charachters is painful (reckoning helps there I think, and maybe with the weapons); I had  it before reckoning came out, so I'm not sure).

got it. If I've ever used it, its like once or twice.

It keeps you interested and makes you use kits/loadouts you wouldnt normally use. Go for it.

I dont wear the banner usually. It makes teammates either 1) expect a free ride or 2) try their hardest to outscore you. Neither are good. Besides, Dog of War is the best looking one.

yes it's worth it.
you'll be pushed out of your comfort zone to complete many of the challenges.
you'll be a better player afterwards.
(just remember, if you're pugging with the banner on, expect to carry)
