I got it back when I was racing for challenge points, but that's about it. Bannerless ftw..
Is Best of the Best worth it?

Although I have seen some BAD botb players
Many things in this game leave me wondering, this is one of them. I honestly wonder how the vast majority I come across in gold pugs obtained this banner after I see the way they play in game, and it isn't because they think I will carry them as I don't run the banner. I have come across a few that are good but I would guess 90% leave me wondering WTF is that players problem.

I just got it today.
I had a victorious moment after my heart was pumping like a madman at the end of a Gold Solo run.
Now I feel I need a new game.

It's nice to have. Just so you can say you've done everything. But I don't think I would attempt it again. Those promotions...

What is the botb banner to the custom dow banner, really?

It's mostly just for completionism really.

@mustang
I agree....Not everyone is a phenomenal player or teammate.
To be fair, people do have their bad days and can leave a bad impression due to lack of sleep...life problems...or just having a really awful day.

There have been some games where I come in dead last because I have the most horrendous lag. Lag so bad my teammates don't appear normally, just floating around with their arms to the sides. Usually happens if desynchronized with a team hosted in Europe.
There have been multiple games with invisible enemies and invincible enemies.
Games where I can't see where the objective is located...no timer...no music.
The good girl gina in me is not a quitter so I make the best of it. :innocent:

If BoTB had an attractive looking Banner, I'd probably equip it more often.

When I see someone bearing the banner in a gold PUG, I feel more confident to finish the match. I did never wear it once because I don't want people think I can carry them. I'll say the process made me trying some unfamiliar classes and weapons otherwise I'd seldom touch. The N7 Mastery is really a tedious chore. But there's a tip for doing it fast by spamming Recruit Pack in the store.

I mainly went for it after they introduced the femshep version of that banner. I initially didn't want to go for it because of the promotions. After they announced that they put up a femshep version, that was my motivation for going after it. I sported it for a while but I kept getting the wrong impressions from pugs. I swapped to the Falcon Krogan Punch dog of war banner instead.

Hell to the yes it was worth it.
It made me a much, much better player, being forced to use classes and guns that you wouldn't have taken a second look at forces you to step your game up, especially if you complete the 200 wave grinds on Gold+ and PUG a lot.
It will also teach you to start looking for synergies in setting up your kits in lobbies, if you drop into a lobby and see three biotics, it's a good time to knock out some of your Adept, Sentinel, or Vanguard waves, since you'll be helping to set up and detonate BEs, which are a really great way to work your way through gold if your manifest isn't quite up to snuff in terms of weapons.
See a vorcha soldier in your lobby? Pick the GE and follow him around detonating all the things!
Was it a lot of work, a lot of grinding, hell yes, but totally worth it. Definitely helps remove any crutches you might have developed sticking to your comfort zone.

It's good for trying out all the kits. I promoted as soon as a challenge was done (200 waves + 10 extractions or less) so the N7 one was easy. I wanted to play all the different classes anyway. What was irritating was the over-cover grab challenges. 250 is quite an obnoxious target.

you will pretty much never be kicked from a lobby while wearing the banner.... unless of course you've already played a game with that group and sucked badly or if you join with a level 1 using an avenger.

This is why I don't run the Lone Wolf anymore. I was so pleased when I got that - Solo'd Platinum for it.

Now I remember what I did for the grab thing: solo Repear Brown on Giant and Glacier for the 1st wave only. No shoot just grab. I won't recommend this way though. It grows tiresome fast.

Ah yes, there is this thread that recommended Giant/Cerberus/Bronze up to wave 3 ad infinitum to get the grabs. Did it. Terribly boring. Much more so than the gold solo challenge.

Yes it's totally worth grinding a couple hundred hours for a picture you add next to your name in the lobby.

Not even remotely worth it, I never use it and pugs who do don't affect my view towards them.

If it had a title that didn't sound like an elitist douchebag and a darker background, perhaps. Otherwise it's really just for the 100% completionists. Wore it a few times, didn't like it at all...

It gives you a purpose, other than the RNG store.
I see that as a great plus.
Too bad I'm done with it and now the store is taking its revenge with the Reckoning URs.

Once I finish the Reckoning Challenge, I'll probably be in thesame boat. But I've said that before... I may grind to get an Eagle, then at least I will have all the URs.
