Is there anyway to trigger certain auto-dialog with the toolset?

Auto dialog either helps immersion or hurts it.

For instance...on one playthrough...crossing the bridge in lothering, Morrigan will ask Alistair about letting a new recruit lead...which works perfectly for the game story. Some playthroughs I never even get this dialog.

However, in another playthrough, Leliana will ask Morrigan about her mother being Flemeth...which makes absolutely no sense. At that point in the game...Leliana has no idea who Morrigan is, let alone who her mother is.

Things like this just really get to me...and I wish there was some way I could fix so that only certain things are said.

Also...is there a list of the areas where I can trigger the auto dialog between companions?

Triggers:
Brecilian Forest outskirts before you hit the dalish camp
Circle of Magi - Past the "point of no return" entrance to the Apprentice quarters
The walkway to the proving grounds in Orzammar
Lothering, right side of the village, the refugee camp
The Lothering bridge
The street toward the exit gate at Denerim
There's a dock/bridge right outside the smith in Redcliffe
The bridge leading to the windmill in Redcliffe
Aeducan Thaig
There are undoubtedly more....

As a general rule, every+25 (I think?) approval opens more conversation options.
Certain 'in camp' conversations are triggered by the events in the plot too, but these are special cases and relatively infrequent.
(Note, Sten is a peculiar case too. If you take him with you on quests he generally makes odd throw-away comments which lead to full conversations back at camp. So if you don't take him with you on missions, his potential conversations will be very limited.)

As far as the traveling banters go, they're not tied to approval for the most part, though a few are based on romance-status and Landsmeet results. I fixed a lot of the bugs in those banters, and Terra_Ex fixed a few more, but I never did fix the one about Leliana asking Morrigan about Flemmeth, which I should have.

There are also "party barks" which are comments one party member will make at random when entering a new location. One example is the Denerim market. Morrigan may comment that she's never seen so many people in one place. But if Sten's there, he may comment about the children running around. Only one member's bark will trigger unless using a mod (I think it's improved atmosphere which does this), and as you say, Sten has some additional dialog tied to those barks. It's a great way to learn about the Qunari.

Anyhoo, as far as dialog when you click on companions, there are a few different factors. One is approval level. You can get different dialogs at -100 hostile, if romanced at -26 hostile (awesome dump conversations, basically), 26+ warm, 26+ interested, 51+ care, 71+ adore, 76+ friendly, and 91+ Love. Other conversations are based on previous conversations had with the companion. For instance, the question leading to Leliana's and Alistair's personal quests rely on you having previous conversations with them -- you have to build some rapport; approval is not enough.
